We are so close to eradicating polio – a disease that once affected over a thousand children every single day.
So, what will it take to #EndPolio once and for all?
More commitment.
More investment.
More collective action.

🇺🇳🇺🇿 The early years matter most! Uzbekistan’s ambitious reforms and sustained investment have tripled preschool enrolment coverage in recent years and scaled up inclusive education. At Inclusive Pre-school Hub #67 in Samarkand, UNICEF Regional Director of #ECAMENA @E_Beigbeder saw one of the country’s first models of inclusive preschools, where children of all abilities learn and play together - thanks to skilled teachers and @UNICEF_UZB partnership with @isdb_group, @GPforEducation, @arabcoordgroup.

🇺🇳🇺🇿 @UNICEF Regional Director for Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa, @E_Beigbeder has begun an official visit to Uzbekistan. Today, he met with @TNarbaeva, Chairperson of @Senatuzb, and commended Uzbekistan’s progress in advancing children’s rights and well-being. "The priority now: ensure it reaches every child and lasts, through strong institutions, evidence and public investment", he said.
When stress tugs at you, the kindest thing to do is pause. Maybe that means naming a feeling. Maybe it means saying hi to someone you trust. Maybe it means putting your phone down. Maybe it means one stretch, one breath, one step. You do not have to untangle the whole knot today.
When everything feels like a lot, remember, you do not have to untangle the whole day at once. Take it one step at a time. Save this for later. Send EXPLORE in a message to @UReportGlobal for more self-care tips.

As I conclude my visit to Ukraine, from Sloviansk and Kharkiv near the frontline to Kyiv and Volyn in the west, I leave touched and inspired by the resilience of children and families, but also deeply concerned by the devastating toll this escalating war continues to take on them.
Everywhere I went, air raid sirens were a constant reminder of the dangers children face daily. In Dnipro, meeting children recovering from severe injuries sustained in attacks was particularly moving. Their suffering, and the courage they show, will stay with me.
The impact of the war is staggering. By August, child casualties in 2026 had already surpassed the total for all of 2025. And with winter approaching, intensified attacks threaten to further disrupt the water, heating, power and essential services children depend on.
Children must be protected. Schools, hospitals and vital civilian infrastructure must be spared. Sustained international support is urgently needed to help families withstand the coming winter and keep essential services running.
UNICEF will continue to stand with Ukraine’s children and families, delivering the support they need, for as long as it takes.

As @UNICEF Regional Director @E_Beigbeder witnessed in Chuhuiv, children across Ukraine remain determined to learn despite the realities of war.

In Chuhuiv, Ukraine, I visited a UNICEF-supported underground school where around 800 children continue learning despite ongoing attacks.
These children are determined to learn and pursue their dreams.
No child should have to learn underground. Every child deserves safe, quality education and the chance to build their future.
We all have mental health. Sometimes it feels steady. Sometimes it feels heavier. Kristyna, Yulia, Poppy and Esti have a message for policymakers on this #WorldMentalHealthDay #OnMyMind
Giving every child and young person the best chance to be healthy and thrive means turning evidence into action. Our new Prevention Toolkit helps policymakers put what we know works into policy and practice across children’s health and well-being.

I have just arrived in Kharkiv, where today’s attack reportedly injured three children and traumatized many more.
Earlier in Dnipro, I met children recovering from severe injuries sustained in the August attack on Kryvyi Rih.
Children must be protected at all times and never targeted.

Today in Kryvyi Rih, I met Angela, a foster mother who has built a warm and caring home for eight children.
Her family is a powerful reminder of why Ukraine’s Better Care reform is so important - helping every child grow up with the love, stability and support of a family.

Nearly five years of war have taken a profound toll on children in Ukraine.
I am here this week to meet children and families, hear directly from communities, and engage with authorities and partners on what more is needed to protect children, uphold their rights, and keep their voices at the centre of action.
More than 31,000 children arrived in Europe through mixed migration routes in 2025. More than two thirds were unaccompanied. New data from @UNICEF_ECA @Refugees and @IOM_ECA highlights the journeys and protection risks facing children on the move.

Deeply saddened by the death of a colleague from Angels of Salvation and the serious injury of another, following an attack in Sloviansk.
Our condolences to their loved ones & the AoS team. Wishing our injured colleague a full recovery.
#Humanitarian workers must be protected.
Today, we have once again seen the risks that volunteers and humanitarian workers face.
Despite the danger, they continue to help people in communities near the front lines.
People who help others should not be targeted.
Humanitarian workers are #NOTTARGET.
