Words are spells. Learning that “care” has roots in sorrow/anxiety/grief sent me straight into a vocab audit!

Self-nurture (instead of self-care) has a beautiful ring to it.

Everyone is born whole. Modern society works very hard to convince you that you arrived defective and need a lifetime of products, programs, and purchases to become “acceptable”. A lot of capitalistic bullshit, keeping you dissatisfied with yourself is a very profitable business model. You can be whole and still have things to learn, complete and still change. Wholeness includes complexity, contradiction, sensitivity, and the parts of yourself you’re still learning how to live with.

It takes a very strong individual to sit with themselves, calm their storms, and heal without trying to bring someone else into that chaos.
