Yaxel bounces back and scores 37 points in Golden State’s 4th straight win, the most points scored by a Warriors rookie since 2019 💪
Ohio State just lost their second game, to an unranked team, by double digits, and there’s still 20 AP voters who put them in the top 10. I know there’s a lot of cannibalizing this year, and you have to rank someone up there, but this is clearly a case of brand bias and ignoring what happened on the field.
Kyle Whittingham’s answer to every single interview question this entire season has been “I don’t know right now, but we’re going to figure it out.”
I really try to not to by hypercritical of coaches because I know there’s a lot more going on than what the average fan sees. But it’s completely unacceptable for the head coach to have zero convictions, zero awareness, and zero passion about absolutely anything related to the team he’s coaching.
Who is actually coaching this team? Because it doesn’t appear to be Whitt.
Sounds like hyperbole but Tommy Carr played a near perfect game. My only note would be to improve the 2 long balls that came up short to Marsh. Every other play was the right throw, the right decision, and the right temperament. He is certainly a welcomed silver living for this offense that’s had a tough year.
Tommy Carr does a phenomenal job of taking what the defense gives him. It’s incredibly refreshing. And I don’t want to hear “yeah but it’s Rutgers.” I know this isn’t necessarily an elite defense but we’ve seen him work through his progressions, be patient, be shifty in the pocket, throw it away when necessary, and take off running at the right times. Those are all qualities that translate to big games. This kid is QB1.
That bizarre series at the end of the half followed by the interview of Whitt sounding completely clueless perfectly epitomizes this season.
Yaxel just fouled out with 6 points. He was playing timid all night, was lazy on the boards, and never quite looked comfortable. This will ultimately be a really valuable experience for him. In the pros, you can’t just show up and get whatever you want. Everything must be earned. He will bounce back.
The post game conversation of Yaxel Lendeborg with Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, and Carmelo Anthony was incredible. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this locked into the NBA this early in the season. I’m so excited for Yax’s career.
Wolverine Chronicle retweeted
Yaxel Lendeborg is the first Warriors rookie since Chris Webber (1993) to score in double figures in each of his first four career games.
Yaxel Lendeborg tonight in Denver:
31 Points
12 Rebounds
6 Assists
He led all scorers in the game, carrying Golden State to their first win of the season.
Well there you have it. JJ moves to:
1-0 as a Giants starter.
7-4 as a starter in the NFL.
Remains undefeated against CJ Stroud.
As JJ McCarthy prepares for his first start as a Giant, it’s important to remember the context. He’s only been in this team for a few weeks and he jumping into a game on the road against a defense that finished #1 in team defense last year. The Texans are favored by 10.5, making it the only double-digit spread of the weekend.
I’m not trying to proactively make excuses or anything like that. In fact, I think he will play well. However, if he’s not perfect today, it’s not time to throw in towel and make all sorts of rash judgements. In a lot of ways it’s similar to the Tommy Carr start yesterday, but hopefully he has a better result.
