I think we can all agree that the best part of modern life is trying to get customer service from computers. @BestBuy Iโ€™m trying to purchase an item from you. Why is this so difficult. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ#ZeldaOcarinaofTimeRemake

I used to watch and listen to it all: Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly, and the rest. But what good does it really do? Nothing. You think you're staying informed, but ask yourself: What can you actually change? Unless you enter politics yourself, your influence is limited. And even then, how long before the very system you're trying to change begins to corrupt you? Constantly listening to political pundits, absorbing their outrage, fear, and division, does nothing but consume your mind. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." โ€” Romans 12:2 (KJV) When you learn to see the world through God's eyes rather than through the lens of the world, your perspective changes. You learn to trust Him, stand on His Word, and rest in His promises. "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." โ€” Colossians 3:2 (KJV) The world will always have another crisis, another controversy, and another reason to be afraid. But God is still on His throne. "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." โ€” Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) That's all one needs. Not the world's endless commentary, but faith in the One who holds the world in His hands.

A classic chart to counter the wisdom of crowds idea. US Americans are absolutely clueless about how common things are. They think over a quarter of Americans are Native Americans, one in five Americans is transgender, over a quarter of the population are Muslim, one in five households earn over half a million dollars. The right answer to all of these questions is 1%. They build their worldview on totally incorrect assumptions towards reality. Data literacy matters.

The pattern is unmistakable. Every time the government tries to spend to make something more affordable, it just raises the cost. Look at this chart every time a socialist promises they will spend their way out of our affordability crisis.

Two Protestants. Same Bible. Different conclusions. Zero binding authority to settle the dispute. This is exactly how Sola Scriptura functions and why, by nature, Protestantism produces nothing but chaos and division.

August 21, 1883. Just after six in the evening, the sky over Rochester, Minnesota turns the color of a bruise. Twenty minutes later, a third of the town is gone. Thirty seven people are dead. More than two hundred are bleeding in the streets. Rochester had no hospital. Not one. So a convent school on the edge of town emptied out. The nuns walked into the wreckage in full habits, and a woman named Mother Alfred Moes, an immigrant from Luxembourg who had come to America with almost nothing, sent word to the only doctor in town who could handle that many wounded. His name was William Worrall Mayo. He was 64, an English country doctor, a hard skeptic on the subject of religion. The sisters took over Rommel's dance hall and turned it into a hospital overnight. None of them had ever been trained in nursing. They learned it standing up, with Mayo giving orders and the injured laid out on the floorboards. When the last patient was gone, Mother Alfred went to see him. She told him Rochester needed a real hospital. A permanent one. She said she had seen it, a great hospital rising out of the cornfields on the west edge of town, and that she wanted him to run it. Mayo told her the truth. A building like that would cost $40,000. Well over a million in today's money. He said no congregation of school teaching nuns could possibly raise it. She did not argue with him. She simply told him that if he would take charge of the hospital, the sisters would take charge of paying for it. Then she went out and did it. For six years, her sisters taught school and handed over their wages. Every dollar. She bought nine acres of farmland. She hired the builders. She oversaw the plans herself, and when the money ran short, she found more. Saint Marys Hospital opened on September 30, 1889. Twenty seven beds. Thirteen sisters, none of them nurses by training. Dr. Mayo, now 70, walked in as chief of staff with his two sons, Will and Charlie, beside him. Those two boys built their surgical practice inside her building. Patients started arriving from Chicago, then from every state, then from overseas. The brothers formalized the partnership in 1919 and gave it their family name. Mayo Clinic. Today it treats more than a million patients a year and is ranked the best hospital in the United States. Mother Alfred Moes died on December 18, 1899, ten years after the doors opened. She never saw what it became. The Mayo brothers always said it plainly. Their father did not want the hospital. The nun did. She built it, and then she handed them the keys. Millions of Americans have made the drive to Rochester with someone they love in the passenger seat. Almost none of them know that the whole thing started with a 54-year-old woman standing in tornado wreckage, refusing to accept a no. h/t: Minnesota | FB

Actual adults vote for Republicans. That statement may anger you, but Iโ€™ll say it again; those with a level of discernment beyond that of a child vote for Republicans. I donโ€™t do a massive amount of politics on here, or truthfully, in real life. I have no love for politicians, they are merely a necessary evil. Why the statement? Actual adults understand a few thingsโ€ฆ The current Democratic Party refuses to accept the science of biology, stymy the flow of illegal aliens, identity voters through ID, recognize your Right to firearms (as outlined in the 2nd Amendment), and reject the ideas of Karl Marx as incongruent with the Constitution. They play games on the State level to block those who seek to reveal corruption and fraud. They literally named a law after Nick Shirley to prevent others like him from revealing massive scams in their State like he did in Minnesota. These are not the actions of rational adults, but rather emotional, power-hungry children who seek to upend our Nation as long as they personally benefit. I am under no delusion that Republicans will deliver everything I want. They have been tepid at best the past two years. Iโ€™m also no Trump sycophantic. Many of his positions would have been considered middle-ground in the 1990โ€™s Democratic Party. He and the Party he leads have managed to deliver a few victories in areas that matter. The southern border is the most secure that itโ€™s been in my lifetime. The NFA is currently starving for oxygen. Some common sense has been applied to preventing men from parading as women to crush their athletic dreams and act as government endorsed voyeurs in bathrooms. Trump is bombastic and publicly treats the Office of the Presidency as a celebrity position. Behind the scenes, itโ€™s clearly different. I highly approve of some of the moves heโ€™s made and shake my head in frustration at others. Trump is not on the ballot this election. Who is? Local representatives and managers, many House Representatives and some Senators; for some of you Mayor or County Sheriff. These are the people whose decisions will truly impact your life regardless of what the man who is not up for reelection does. Rational adults vote for the representation that doesnโ€™t promise to steal what you have, give it to noncitizens, take away your right to self-defense, upend our founding documents, and allow the replacement of equal justice with Sharia law. The current Democratic Party endorses ideas that indoctrinate your children into ideas that prevent you from ever having grandchildren. They support that which will literally end your family line; they gain power and you lose your legacy. At this point in time, that rational option is by and large the Republican Party. Will Republicans likely fail to live up to all of their campaign promises? Beyond a doubt. A mature adult knows that and yet understands the opposite choice is guaranteed destruction. Naรฏve children make choices on emotions, โ€œthe feelsโ€, promises of free stuff and believing that politicians wonโ€™t disappoint them. Rational adults stoically weigh the options based on projected course and values. The Iran war will not immediately end no matter which way you vote. Gas prices also donโ€™t turn on a dime. No matter who you choose, inflation will not immediately disappear and Congress will spend money. I have my gripes, as do you. They are valid. National suicide is not the answer. Until the Democrats produce another JFK like option, eschew their current values and platform, you must do your job as a rational adult and block them at the voting booth and in the public square. Anything less is puerile.

I happened to be in Aix-en-Provence in France when there was a protest. It was fairly wholesome. There were a bunch of kids walking down the street shouting. The adults enjoyed their dejeuner and viewed the entertainment.

Many people are rediscovering the Gospel and embracing the faith against the backdrop of a society marked by a deeply secularized culture. With pastoral tenderness and fraternal charity, we must recognize, welcome, and protect the small flame that the Holy Spirit has kindled in the darkness of the night. #ApostolicJourney #France vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/eโ€ฆ

You have been told President Trump is a dictator by people who hate him. Listening to what he actually says may confirm the worst or maybe youโ€™ll reach a different conclusion. If you hear something odd or unbelievable you can do more research yourself. Thatโ€™s what being an informed citizen is all about.

It was a joy to watch him run it in.
Tonight, Kenneth Walker III ran for a career-high 173 yards and scored two touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air, in his debut for the Kansas City Chiefs. Eight years ago, doctors told him he would never play football again. In the summer of 2018, Walker was a high school kid in Tennessee with a dream and no Power Five offers. He was grinding before his senior season, the way he always had, certain this was the year he'd finally break through and force college coaches to notice him. Then one morning he woke up and couldn't breathe. His mother rushed him to the hospital. Doctors found blood clots in his lungs, a pulmonary embolism, a condition that can turn fatal fast. They shut him down from all sports immediately. And then they told a teenager chasing a football dream the worst thing he could hear: that if he'd taken a hit in the wrong place while playing through that chest pain, it could have killed him. Football was over. That was the diagnosis. In an instant, the dream was gone. Walker refused to accept it as the ending. With treatment, time, and his family behind him, he fought his way back onto the field. He had no scholarship offers from major programs even then, so he started at Wake Forest, transferred to Michigan State, and in one unforgettable 2021 season ran for over 1,600 yards and became one of the most electric backs in the country. The Seattle Seahawks made him a second-round pick in 2022. For three years he was good, but stuck in a committee, splitting carries, waiting for a real shot to carry a team. This past February, he got it. Walker carried Seattle through the playoffs, then rushed for 135 yards in Super Bowl LX and was named the game's Most Valuable Player. Months later he signed a big free-agent deal to become the every-down back in Kansas City. Tonight, in his first game in a Chiefs uniform, he was everything they paid for. He ran for 173 yards, the most of his entire career, including a 60-yard touchdown burst where he hit better than 21 miles per hour, one of the fastest runs he's ever broken off. He added a touchdown catch for good measure, and the Chiefs rolled to a win over the Broncos. Not bad for a kid who was once told, by doctors, that he'd already played his last down.

I taught the "small" class of OCIA at St. Mary's at TX A&M tonight. They started in the Spring & have 240ish. The BIG class isn't tallied up yet, but will probably be close to 450 (or more). This means there are nearly 700 young people exploring the Catholic Church at Texas A&M!
