We have to admit that crypto just isn't as cool as it used to be for many people.
Chris Dixon explains @a16z crypto's rebranding to @a16zfrontier by saying:
"As blockchains have become more widely used, the lines have blurred and the infrastructure has gradually receded into the background."
I understand this point. actually crypto has always been intertwined with other applications. It used to be front and center. Now it's fading into the background.
Remember the FOMO around DeFi, NFTs, GameFi... (and the metaverse?) Crypto was synonymous with innovation and the frontier of technology. No conversation about the future of tech and the internet felt complete without it.
Today, much of that excitement has faded. Most non-financial use cases have struggled to gain meaningful adoption, while speculation still dominates. Beyond serving as infra for stablecoins and RWAs, prediction markets and perp DEX may be among crypto's biggest native use cases. For many outsiders, crypto has become synonymous with a casino.
Meanwhile, AI has become the new center of gravity, attracting the brightest minds, the most ambitious founders, and enormous amounts of capital. a16z's move makes perfect sense in this context.
Still, crypto will always be cool to me.
Like a Trojan horse, it has gradually made its way into the global financial system. Stablecoins are becoming essential payment infrastructure, permissionless markets are expanding financial access, and the freedom to move value across borders is becoming a reality for more people. Crypto is getting closer to its original ideals, even as the spotlight shifts elsewhere.
And as more liquidity finds its way onchain, in whatever form, new possibilities for innovation will keep emerging.
Crypto may have lost the spotlight, but it hasn't lost its magic. And I still believe its best days are ahead.
sorry Farcaster, GM Lens <3 🤣

Finally, @farcaster_xyz has been acquired by @balajis's Network School @ns. For its long-term relevance and influence, this might be the best outcome.
While I don't fully align with NS, I'm glad to see it revisit decentralized social's original promise. NS aims to build digital societies, from techno-optimist communities to the physical world, with an AI-enforced Network Code.
Decentralized governance and cypherpunk ideals first drew me to crypto. But as DAOs faded and speculation took over, we seemed to forget those ambitions.
Still, some "Network Code" provisions under "Opt in to Constraints" seem strict. Farcaster may remain a small, cozy corner rather than a mass social network. Of course users can always switch clients for different vibes, as the protocol remains open.
Farcaster has been through so many chapters: from relative obscurity to the excitement around DEGEN and Clanker era, from social-first to the controversial wallet-first pivot, and from Merkle's founding team handing things over to Neynar, and now to NS. So many ups and downs, so many people coming and going. Sometimes it feels like we've almost forgotten what Farcaster was supposed to be in the first place.
I don't know where NS will take it, but I've voted to stay.
I want to see how this digital society grows and how far it can go.
Just joined the Pons beta.
Beyond the cleaner, more polished, and actually useful UI, the biggest highlight is definitely the new PLP mechanism for @ponsdotfamily tokens.
It might sound a little complicated at first: PLP acts as an automated market maker that absorbs the price impact from large buys and sells, then captures the spread as yield for liquidity providers.
For new tokens with thin liquidity, this could be especially useful, adding more depth, reducing extreme slippage, and making the market more resilient to sudden large trades.
Also, everyone now has their own profile page showing their portfolio. Maybe a hint at future social trading features? 👀
Overall, a very pleasant surprise. Excited to see what else @MEADGod has in store.
$PONS NEW PRODUCT IS HERE - BETA
Ozzy Just Dropped The $PONS Beta. 👀
Remember when @MEADGod told everyone to refresh the beta? Well, it's finally LIVE.
And there's quite a bit to explore.
The new @ponsdotfamily platform includes:
> New trading terminal and token discovery
> Token launches with custom trading pairs
> Full analytics: Volume, fees, revenue and buybacks
> PLP: A new liquidity product with 181 markets open for deposits
And look at the activity Pons is already generating.
Last 7 days:
> $1B trading volume
> 53.5K token launches
> $12.4M in fees
> $1.9M protocol revenue
PLP is the feature I'm most curious about. A whole new way to deploy liquidity across Pons markets, with deposits just starting at $0.
The beta is invite-only, and each admitted user gets 3 invites.
Go have a look before CT catches on.

Finally caught up with @RobinhoodApp’s Star Trek HOOD Summit.
The highlight for me was Robinhood Social coming out of beta, adding a social layer to a wallet.
Trade, share, publish, follow...
@fomo has already shown the value of wallet + social. Financial activity fuels social interaction, and social interaction brings more users and activity, compounding network effects. Launchpads like @Pumpfun (and @ponsdotfamily?) are also rolling out similar products.
It feels like product builders with foresight are converging on the same Schelling point. And it's a shame that some wallets are stepping back from the very social features they helped pioneer.
And finally, I loved the closing line:
“We’ll see you in the DeFi sector. Engage.”
Looking forward to seeing where the starship Robinhood goes next.
Mission complete 🪐
Thanks for joining us for HOOD Summit. We hope you enjoy everything we shipped.
See you out there.

The @ponsdotfamily eco keeps surprising us.
Memes, agents, DeFi, liquidity, memestocks… so much variety, something for everyone.
and the way it supports ecosystem tokens through pairings makes it feel like a real family.
Looking forward to more surprises after HOOD Summit.
When I started my RH journey 1 month ago, they told me well this cycle you have to follow top accounts on FOMO, then I’ve tried several times and kept losing money.
So called top accounts are actually not trustable. If they buy, copy traders would instantly front run most of you, profits only belong to insiders, top accounts shadow wallets and copy traders. Most of them are paper hands, when your favorite accounts start to sell you get rugged. Do you really trust Frank, bonkguy or Him ?
HODL culture in crypto has never been so hard mode than before.
The funny thing is actually only about 1% traders on FOMO have more than $1000 profits while your favorite KOLs keep flexing his 100x 1000x. If atm it’s the beginning of bull cycle, this is totally wrong tbh. Bull cycle should belong to most of the people.
Since FOMO breaks the barrier of different chains, so traders can switch to different chains smoothly. However I don’t think most of you can be experts/smart investors among ALL the eco and chains, so how come you buy the right one based on your knowledge ? Again the reason is your favorite top accounts ? Is it possible top accounts are experts among ALL the eco and chains ?
My thesis is quite simple, maybe I’m old but bitcoin and crypto starts with builders, decentralization and communities. That is also the main reason why Ordinals/BRC20 stared last bull cycle.
Trader culture ruined all of these for the past few months.
Look how $shroom $orbio $bun recently surge in RH eco during bear time. You don’t have to rely on top accounts, just stay with the real long term teams, real innovation and decentralized communities. Hope we all win in the upcoming bull run.
The tokenized stock supercycle is coming! And $1B should no longer be seen as the ceiling for tokens on RHC.
The @SECGov just opened the door for tokenized US stocks to trade onchain through AMMs and liquidity pools. this is a massive tailwind for the entire RWA-native ecosystem being built around Robinhood Chain.
And with the September rate hike now behind us, one major macro uncertainty has cleared. The party goes on.
@RobinhoodCrypto looks very different now with a growing range of RWA-native primitives. The leaders in stock-paired memecoins, stock-paired token launchpads, and all kinds of RWA × DeFi are still some of the strongest candidates to capture this next wave.
I have little doubt that we’ll see tokens on RHC break $1B, $2B, or even much higher.
Other chains will inevitably race into this space too. Some will innovate, others will follow. Either way, there may be room for everyone.
Enjoy the tokenized stock supercycle!
Robinhood Chain is on fire right now, with its RWA-native ecosystem quickly taking shape across DeFi, launchpads, memes, games, and more.
Whether Robinhood Chain will produce its first $1B token is no longer a question of if, but when and which one.
Maybe some of the leading candidates are already here:
@uponrh: native DEX leader
@ponsdotfamily: launchpad leader
@cashcat_token: native meme leader
@ArtificiallyInu: meme/stock leader
@NetNetCap: RW-Play leader
@realstonkbroker: NFTFi leader
@TheIndexFi: RWA rewards leader
...
Or maybe it’s one that’s quietly building momentum right now, or one that hasn’t even appeared yet.
Either way, I think we’ll find out soon.

Hope this isn’t just a coincidence: real-world companies are beginning to notice crypto projects forming around their tokenized stocks.
I think we’re starting to see something much bigger around tokenized stocks and other RWAs:
Tokenize → Play → Connect.
Step 1: Tokenize it.
Bring stocks and other RWAs onchain, making them easier to access, transfer, and trade 24/7.
Step 2: Play with it.
Make tokenized stocks composable: use them across DeFi as collateral for lending and borrowing (RWA-Fi?), pair them with memecoins (@ArtificiallyInu), put them into treasuries and distribute them as rewards (@TheIndexFi), or build games and entirely new financial products around them (@NetNetCap).
More ways to use an asset means more reasons to hold it, trade it, build around it, and bring liquidity onchain.
Step 3: Connect it.
Companies start engaging with the onchain apps forming around their tokenized stocks through holder benefits, sponsorships, dev support, and partnerships, expanding their mindshare while bringing more liquidity and activity onchain and creating a flywheel for both companies and their communities.
The future of RWA is not just about bringing the real world onchain.
It’s about creating novel, open, and efficient financial experiences onchain that simply weren’t possible before, allowing capital, value, and participation to flow freely between the real world and the onchain world.
This could be fun.

the @netflix account just followed $chill dev @yar0xslav on one of the biggest days in Netflix history?
yea send this
Very encouraged to see @vladtenev discussing the potential and composability of onchain stocks in his recent interview with @TheICHpodcast.
He sees that tokenized stocks are not just about bringing equities onchain. Beyond sending and swapping, they can also be used for “collateralization, lending, and borrowing”.
He is also looking forward to more innovation from the combination of developer platforms and financial primitives, where developers can create new pools, protocols, and products around stock tokens.
No wonder people are paying attention to @TheIndexFi again, while a few have been watching @NetNetCap from the very beginning.
He indeed sees the future of onchain RW-Play, turning RWAs from tradable onchain assets into playable onchain assets.
Meanwhile, @base is also moving quickly with native tokenized stocks onchain (base.org/stocks). It’s still just the beginning. The real game is the ecosystem built on top of onchain stocks and other RWAs: the protocols, applications, and experiments that make these assets truly composable, programmable, and playable. The race is also heating up around bringing AI agents onchain.
Onchain is going to be fun again.

Coinbase adding $BASECAT, $DRB, and $POD on @base to its roadmap comes at the perfect time, sounding the starting gun just as the bull market kicks off.
The picks smartly mix memecoins with strong community momentum (both those boosted by official circles and long-running community favorites) with application tokens that have real use cases.
On one hand, it aims to pull attention back from Robinhood’s memecoin frenzy to Base, drawing more users back into the Base trenches through listings.
On the other, it plays to Base’s core strength: a deep pool of builders shipping real applications, especially in AI, which has become almost synonymous with the chain. It’s time to amplify that advantage.
This might only be the beginning.

Shocked, and RIP. Fantom was almost my first stop when I entered crypto, and @tombfinance was one of the most memorable experiments from that era.
@harryyeh had his moment running Tomb, and back then Fantom was basically the “Tomb chain”, countless Tomb forks everywhere. It was one of the craziest periods DeFi has ever seen.
Seeing more and more projects shut down, more builders leave crypto, and even leave this world, is truly bittersweet.

"Does crypto need social to grow?"
I guess the answer is still yes.
Social + crypto (or social trading) is still one of the most active areas being explored today.
- As one of the world’s largest social networks, @X, has continued adding crypto-related features, from hashtag discovery to price tracking, and there were even rumors at one point about potential buying functionality.
- As Coinbase’s increasingly competitive challenger, @RobinhoodApp, is also exploring social trading:
robinhood.com/us/en/social/
- As well-known social trading platforms @fomo have continued to attract significant funding, with one raising $75M even during the current crypto bear market.
So in my view, the issue was not crypto + social itself. The challenge was more specific to Zora’s Content/ Creator Coin model.
I think it may be an overcorrection to completely dismiss the importance and potential of crypto + social based on Zora’s experience. The lessons from one particular experiment shouldn’t necessarily be generalized to the entire social category.
The social experiments around Base, especially the Base-first community and the close-knit social network built around Farcaster, were actually some of Base’s most valuable assets and potential moats. It’s unfortunate that, while moving away from Zora’s approach, some of that social foundation was also separated from Base.
Trading, payments, and agents are not fundamentally in conflict with social. In fact, they can complement each other in very natural ways. I believe we’ll see more products emerge that demonstrate this over time.
That said, what’s done is done. The more interesting question now is what new ideas @baseapp will bring under @cobie's leadership.
Base still has a strong group of builders and a passionate community supporting it, and I remain optimistic about its future. 🟦
lots of conversations about base over the last week. wanted to share my candid take after a week of listening and a lot of reflection over the last 6 months.
first off - in case it’s not obvious, the first quarter of 2026 was a punch in the face. I spent 2024 and 2025 making a two pronged bet to bring base to the world: (1) builders would unlock the next wave of crypto adoption; (2) adoption would be driven by new onchain-native social experiences - creators, content, messaging. imo we made the right bet on builders, but obviously the wrong bet on social. builders did drive the next wave of crypto adoption - prediction markets, perpetuals, stablecoins - but social was not at the center of it. in fact, the entire social side of the market that many of us had been building towards - farcaster, zora, miniapps, and yes, creator coins - disintegrated completely. I was wrong - whether it was timing wrong (is $ansem a creator coin?) or fully wrong, only time will tell, but regardless, i was definitively wrong.
the collateral damage was pretty bad! and this year has been an exercise in eating shit. we realized how our focus on social had meant that base had fallen behind in key areas that were now increasingly critical - we had perps (shoutout avantis!) and prediction markets (shoutout limitless!), but both were well behind scaled competitors. and we had a lot of room to improve in unlocking base as a platform for tokenization and payments that really worked for enterprises. people lost confidence, and CT spectators reminded me weekly of all of my mistakes as often as they could. it felt bad man, still feels bad.
but if there’s one thing i’ve learned from the last decade of building in this space, it’s that when things feel the worst, the best thing to do is just put your head down and build. so that’s what i’m doing. I refocused my time and attention back to the chain away from the app, started writing code again, shipped a bunch of stuff (azul, beryl, b20, privacy, ledgers) and questioned a bunch of my assumptions: does crypto need social to grow? does base need an app? can base be bigger than coinbase?
I thought for a long time that social was the only thing that could drive the sort of viral growth to get crypto to a billion people. unsurprisingly, I now believe that’s wrong. It’s clear that better money is more than enough - we are seeing this live with stablecoins, predictions, perpetuals, tokenization and i only expect it to accelerate. I am now focused on bringing a billion people onchain just by making global finance actually work.
on the app, my focus is on building base into the blockchain for global finance. to that end, i’ve handed the base app back to the coinbase mothership, where my now good friend @cobie will be taking it from here to make it the best damn app for onchain you’ve ever seen, including expanding beyond the base ecosystem in ways that tbh i won’t love as the leader of base.
it’s incredibly hard to grow a decentralized network inside of a big public corporation. and i feel like much of the discourse on CT over the last week is downstream of this. the following things can be true: (1) base (and i) love memes and (2) brian probably won’t ever bullpost memes on the tl (this activity is illegal once you’re over 40 years of age). it’s weird and we’re working through it as we continue to decentralize base, which has been our commitment from the beginning.
we’re going to build base into the blockchain for global finance and do everything we can to be the place that the world’s money settles over the next century. we will surely have formidable competitors (welcome robinhood and stripe!) and people may abandon our cause, but we welcome the competition and believe it’s our duty to win the respect and commitment of those who rally to our banner.
in 2026, this concretely means three things: winning trading, payments, and agents.
