True!

Best way for @0xPolygon to get ahead of the curve is to begin promoting the best work ever done on their L2 which is @goroishihata’s cryptogoros
Great use of ZK. With so many leaks lately, I hope can use something like this soon.
I submitted a project, p!pon, to the Solana @colosseum hackathon.
I’ve been personally interested in zero-knowledge proofs for a while, and the hackathon timing worked out, so I decided to build an actual product to see firsthand what today’s ZK can do.
p!pon is an experiment: tap your Japanese My Number Card on your phone and prove only the facts a service needs, like “over 20,” “real human,” or “one person, one account,” without handing over any personal data. The proof is generated with ZK and verified on Solana.
I picked this theme because of the Times car-sharing data breach in Japan. Driver’s license data of about 6 million people leaked, and I was one of them. A copy of my license, handed over just so a company could confirm I can drive, is still sitting somewhere out of my control.
Did the company really need my name, address, and birthdate?
Maybe the safest personal data is the data that’s never collected.
The timing is interesting too. From April 2027, identity verification in Japan shifts from sending photos of your ID to reading its IC chip.
IC chips solve authenticity.
ZK solves how much you reveal.
Over 100 million My Number Cards are in use, covering about 83% of the population. Very few countries have a cryptographic ID in almost everyone’s pocket.
After actually building it, proof generation on a phone took under a minute, so practicality doesn’t seem like an issue at all. If a company with real technical depth took this on seriously, I think a usable product could exist as early as next year.
If this approach spreads, it could become a shared trust layer for Web2 and Web3 alike: age checks, anti-scalping for tickets, Sybil resistance for airdrops and DAOs. Building the demo made me feel that a future where millions of people in Japan use crypto without even noticing might be closer than we think.
Since the NFT era, I’ve focused on connecting Japan’s crypto scene with the global community through events. These days I think products that make blockchain feel close to everyday life matter most, so I took this as a chance to catch up on recent tech and go all the way to building something.
