made so many great connections in 24hours.
hi everyone 👋
i’m a freelance design engineer. i collaborate with industry leaders and startups to help them in saving substantial amounts of money by avoiding lawsuits resulting from poor design decisions or make more money by enhancing their product.
enough about me, how are you doing?

For a company voice, pick a real person who talks a particular way, and make the welcome email and the error message sound like them.
A person’s easier to copy than a committee. Then write their voice down as pairs, warm but not gushing, brief but not curt, so the line’s clear.

A website feels slow when you’re staring at a blank patch where a picture should be, then the page jumps as you go to tap something.
Both are fixable.
Show each picture blurry first, in the space it’ll take, then let it sharpen, so nothing moves. And make each page carry only what it needs, since less to download is less to wait for.
Videos are where the weight hides. The silent video looping at the top of a homepage may still carry a soundtrack nobody hears; take it out and the file shrinks.
Make each video only as big as it appears; a little clip on a card doesn’t need to be cinema-sized. Then keep squeezing the file until you can see a difference, and stop.
Up to there, nobody can tell.
i thought i'll get away with having my own skill files, i thought it'll work out but nope. i was wrong. now i am going to fine tune a local llm to think like me and code like me.
i will use frontier models to do most of the work but review and cleanup and maintenance will be done by my fine tuned local llm.
what should i call it?
i noticed the algorithm is a lot better now. im seeing good contents on my feed from my beloved folks than stupid ragebait posts.
One thing that stood out to our team at GTC Berlin: businesses want more say in how they use AI.
They want to use their own data, adapt models to their needs and choose where everything runs.
But having those choices is just the start. Someone still has to connect the systems, manage access and make sure the AI works reliably.
That's the engineering work behind “AI on your own terms.” And for us at aion, it's what makes the idea meaningful.

i miss how before ai everyone used to pay so much attention to the lil details on a website and now it's mostly ignored for a broader wow factor.

1/ I spent the morning pulling AWS's GPU pricing apart: the Oct 7 Capacity Block hike, plus two months of B200/B300 spot data.
One cloud, one chip, and prices from ~$1.95 to ~$14.24 an hour. Here's what I think the spread is actually telling us 🧵

Choosing a font is mostly choosing how something sounds. The letters talk before you’ve read a word: a streetwear label shouts in thick, squashed capitals, a plain basics brand speaks in calm, simple ones.
Loud or quiet, both work if they’re on purpose.
i prefer connecting and interacting with designers and engineers with 5k or less followers.
i intentionally ignore design/engineer influencers here. don't have the appetite to entertain their egos.
fucking unbelievable! open source arc, we'll take care of it.
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.
do freelancers choose their projects anymore or take whatever comes their way?
i was very choosy when it came to my clients even when i was struggling early in my career. but i had a very clear goal on the work i wanted to do and the type of portfolio i wanted to build, it was never about the money. money just came with it.
