One of the main problems that prevent institutions from embracing onchain finance is privacy concerns.
However, not every financal position or approach should be disclosed, and it does not necessarily imply everything should be built on trust.
This is what makes @primus_labs interesting because creating a system for private verification of financial information is something onchain finance needs.

In my previous post, I mentioned the importance of confidential finance and the work that @primus_labs is doing to bring privacy to onchain finance.
Today, I checked out @primus_labs confidential finance myself.π
dapp.primuslabs.xyz/shield
I deposited some USDT on BNB chain and shielded it to convert it to encrypted USDT (eUSDT).
These are my findings:π
Shield/Unshield :you can easily convert USDT to eUSDT and then unshield it instantly.
Send: you can simply send eUSDT by entering anyone wallet address.
Vault: you can stake eUSDT and earn ~11% APY
Please note that unshielding is instant whereas redeeming from vault in not. Redeem tokens from the vault takes 7 days + processing time.
Also,
Shield, unshield and send costs 0.00036 BNB as fee
Stake and redeem costs 0.0013 BNB as fee
Its really exciting to observe the development of the concept of confidential finance beyond theories to practical usage.π

In my last tweet, we explored @primus_labs and its confidential finance product.
According to primus docs, it has 3 main capabilities: π
β’ Confidential transfer
β’ Confidential vault
β’ private asset managment
dapp.primuslabs.xyz/portfoliβ¦
Here you can shield you funds
Put them on vault or transfer
But why does confidential finance is matter?
As we mentioned, confidential finance uses FHE to encrypt data on public blockchain.
This allow the sender and recipient to perform computations on the data while it remains encrypted to everyone else.
One of the most important use cases of the confidential finance is for financial institutions.π
Let me tell you why.βΌοΈ
Data on public blockchain is visible to everybody, but this transparancy can be a disadvantage for financial institutions that want to do a transaction.
For example, an investment fund wants to move million of dollars.
If the transaction amount, wallet balances and trading time are visible to everyone, especially competitors they might figure it out its strategy and react faster.
Or imagine a company paying its employees onchain.
These are real challenges for institutions looking to move financial activity onchain.

I explained zkTLS and zkFHE that used by @primus_labs in the tweets below.
To make this easier to understand, I'll give a few more examples: π
Imagine a project wants to reward users based on Github activity.
Here zkTLS allows the project to obtain the specific data it needs without requiring users to share their entire account information.
For a FHE usecase, imagine you want to make a transfer to someone but do't want others to see the transaction amount.
If the transaction uses FHE, this become possible. the data remains encrypted, but sender and recipient can perform the necessary computations on the encrypted data and know the exact transaction amount.
Now, lets talk about where FHE is used in @primus_labs.
#Primus has introduced a technology called Confidential Finance on BNB chain, which uses FHE and focuses on confidential transfers.
Finally, in my opinion, those two technologies are not replacements for each other.
Instead they can work together as complementary technologies, increasing data trustworthiness while protecting sensitive information through encryption.π€
Ultimately, this can help build trust and bring financial institutions into the blockchain world.π€

Yesterday, we talked about the zkTLS technology used by @primus_labs.
Over the past few weeks I have seen many projects using zkFHE. π€
Interestingly, primus also uses zkFHE in its infrastructure.
First, let's talk a little about
Where FHE came from?
What is its goal?
Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), was first proposed by Criag Gentry in 2009, and over the years, it evolved into the technology we see today.
The original goal of FHE was to encrypt sensitive data while still allowing computations to be performed on it in its encrypted state.
There is where the difference between zkFHE and zkTLS become clear.
zkTLS allows us to trust the data we receive, while zkFHE allows us to receive data in encrypted form and perform necessary operations on it.
You could say that both aim to prevent users data to be exposed.

Lets dig out @primus_labs a little bit more.
As you know, primus is built around zkTLS. but
What is zkTLS?
Where did it came from?
What does it do?
The first Idea (TLSNotary) goes back years.
TLSNotary was one of the early pioneers, with it initial concept introduced 2013 and later redeveloped in 2022 with support from Ethereum foundation.
zkTLS that is stands for zero knowledge transport layer security emerged as zero knowledge tech evolved, gaining traction around 2021.
IN SIMPLE TERMS, zkTLS lets you prove that data from web2 is real and authentic, without reveailing unnecessary information about the data or its owner.
Here are a few simple examples: ππ»
Imagine you have $1M in your CEX account and want to prove it to an onchain platform. sharing SS and saying "Trust me bro" might not work.
Or maybe you want to prove your bank balance to a web3 platform without revealing your secret data, or show your monthly income.
zkTLS can make all of this possible without exposing extra private information.
And these are just a few examples.
The potential use cases go way beyond this with @primus_labs.
You can also read the docs your self about zkTLS here
