SHOCKING: Australia's Test Captain Resigned After Sexually Explicit Messages With a Female Colleague Became Public! Tim Paine was supposed to restore Australia's image after the infamous Sandpaper Gate scandal. But in November 2021, just 19 days before the Ashes, his own off-field controversy forced him to resign as Test captain. The controversy dated back to 2017, when Paine exchanged sexually explicit messages with a female colleague at Cricket Tasmania. The incident was investigated in 2018, and Paine said the investigation found no breach of the relevant code of conduct. However, in November 2021, the messages became public, triggering a major controversy. Paine apologised to his wife, family, the colleague involved and Australian cricket fans. He admitted his actions had fallen short of the standards expected of the captain. The timing made matters worse, with Australia preparing for one of cricket's biggest rivalries against England in the Ashes. Paine had taken over the captaincy after Steve Smith's leadership ban following Sandpaper Gate. He was expected to represent a fresh start for Australian cricket. Instead, his past returned to haunt him. Was his resignation the right decision, despite the earlier investigation finding no code-of-conduct breach?
