Just before 9am on the 19th of April 1995, a Ryder rental truck came to stop outside the Alfred P Murrah Federal building. It was an important building in the downtown area of the city which had multiple purposes. As it had so many varied uses, the building was often very busy.
The explosion was found to have come from a rental car that had been parked outside with a bomb fixed to the inside. The FBI tracked down the person on the rental car, it was Timothy McVeigh.
He was arrested and was sentenced to death. He was executed by lethal injection in 1999. Listen to the full story here on 10 minute true crime: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas…
