i have v much enjoyed traveling in my life and i wouldn't take it back
i also really like how it shaped my personality / worldview and i love knowing ppl around the world
but a lot of this has real truth
the digital nomad thing is largely incompatible with building a real meaningful life bc the constant new irl stimulus allows you to put off a lot of things you'd have to necessarily solve in a static environment
also he's right most major cities are converging toward mono culture no matter where they are
think there's a sweet spot where you can travel but still maintain routines / consistent work hours / relationships and then you avoid a lot of the pitfalls
altho tbh if you're like under 25 none of this matters go have fun and speak new languages and see how ppl live around the world it's awesome
Idiots think "traveling" is a virtue or something special, like it's the pinnacle of human experience or achievement.
This isn't the 1700s. There's nothing inherently difficult, special, or impressive about traveling anymore.
It's just another form of consumption, like watching TV.
For a lot of people, it's just an excuse to avoid developing any genuine intellectual curiosity, mastering something, or building anything real.
They confuse consuming experiences with actually accomplishing something.
Fuck traveling. There's nothing to see, nowhere to go. Especially nowadays, when the entire world is converging into one giant monoculture.
