I care very much about the future of research science, in the USA and elsewhere. The budget for the NIH Brain Initiative was cut 40% this year relative to 2023. A lot of great work was halted. I hope that a lot of attention will be paid in the months and years to come about how crucial basic and clinical research is to advance human health and the importance of funding. Put simply: no $, no research. As a relevant note In recent years I (@scicomm via the Huberman Lab premium channel) have gotten very involved in science philanthropy, pooled some amazing co-donors and continue to support cutting edge science in various labs that stands to advance human health. The point is that all sources: NIH, NSF, private foundations and individual and groups of donors are what make the question-research-data-tool implementation wheel go around.
