The Southwest Airlines Pilots union has won a historic contract with a 50% raise over the next five years. After years of negotiation @swapapilots hammered out this massive agreement, which now goes to the union members for a vote. This win comes hot on the heels of increasingly large raises won by unions at other major airlines. Delta pilots won a 34% raise last December. United pilots won a 40% raise in July. American Airlines pilots won a 46% raise in August. Union power is bringing increasingly transformative contracts to workers in the airline industry. Next up, 26,000 flight attendants at American Airlines have voted to authorize a strike. These workers haven't gotten a raise since 2019, and after seeing the massive raises that pilots are winning 99% voted to authorize their strike and go big. The flight attendant unions at Southwest, United, and Alaska Airlines are also in contract negotiations right now as they fight for more. We're in a new era of worker power, in the airline industry and across the country.

Ridership on Bay Area public transportation systems is going up. Transit agencies are taking steps to make transit safer, cleaner & more reliable. Transit is essential to our future & we must ensure these systems don鈥檛 have to make service cuts as they recover.

馃УThe CA public transit budget situation continues to be alarming CA transit faces a fiscal cliff that, if not solved, will lead to devastating service cuts Yet, the Governor鈥檚 budget proposal slashes transit funding & the proposal advancing in the Legislature is problematic 猬囷笍

Tomorrow, March 18, is Transit Workers Appreciation Day. We give thanks to all transit workers who work to move the Bay Area. If you see a transit worker out tomorrow, give them a 馃憢 and a "thank you!" "My parents can't drive me everywhere...I take BART to go see my friends."

We had an amazing time today with @192Atu talking w/ riders about everything from poor service and high fares, to hazard pay for transit workers. The pressure is on for @rideACT to spend their $100+ million of federal rescue funds and give East Bay riders the system they deserve!
