Racing line brought to you by 6 miller lites and shot of Jameson
this is f*cking insane...
a guy reverse-engineered his Ray-Ban Meta glasses with Opus 5.5 and turned them into JARVIS for the race track
it reads the track in real time, draws the racing line on the asphalt and tells him when to brake, turn in and counter-steer
his lap: 1:52.4 → 1:47.1. minus 5.3 seconds in one session
here's how it works step by step:
step 1 → the glasses stream what he sees to his phone, 30 frames a second
step 2 → a vision model finds the asphalt, the curbs and the next corner in every frame, even with his head shaking
step 3 → Opus 5.5 plans the racing line: outside → apex → outside, and paints it right on the road
step 4 → green = full throttle. red = braking zone. orange = you're in the corner
step 5 → before every turn: "BRAKE · 80 m", countdown, then "turn in", then "apex"
step 6 → when the rear slides, it shows the drift angle and which way to counter-steer
step 7 → the voice in his ear: "brake… now", "hold the apex", "full throttle"
step 8 → a mini-map in the corner compares his line with the ideal one and shows the lap delta live
under the hood:
→ no cloud, everything runs on the phone
→ if it loses the road, the line fades out instead of lying to you
→ every lap is saved, so it learns where you lose time
F1 teams pay millions for a race engineer. he made one out of sunglasses

Ray-Ban Meta glasses have no display/AR for road overlays; video is rendered visualization. Poster's follow-up shares hypothetical prompt using ~5 fps video call to computer, not claimed 30 fps on-phone real-time.

Atrocious, reprehensible vehicle. Something spiritually broken about modern wrangler owners
See you in the Valhalla Spider, brother
Alfa Romeo is done with screens.
The brand's head of design said in an interview that it was time to "get rid of the screens" in new cars, and that oversized displays will eventually become obsolete.

Libs love to play the media literacy card and then get absolutely oneshotted by the jingliest possible keys
HBO's @LastWeekTonight has a long track record of citing social science findings without the appropriate context, massaging them to support whatever point @iamjohnoliver is trying to make.

I’m trying my best to be okay with the roving gangs of domestic terrorists that are e-bike kids because we do need kids being kids again but are the sheisties really necessary lol

Passing out at 8pm after putting my precious children to bed. I wake up in the middle of the night with guilt for all my blessings, self hatred for all my sins, and obsessive thought which has plagued me since childhood, but finally I find forgiveness for myself and the world. All will be saved. Now wide awake, I roll over and check x, the everything app, it opens on my fyp, and the first video is an insanely fat woman eating ribs and slapping her belly. The next video is a guy washing poop out of his own ass with his pee. The third is of a live streamer laying on his couch soaked in gasoline playing with a lighter until he self immolates and the whole chat goes “bro hell no!! 😭 why bro doing that!!” Finally, I feel myself drifting back to sleep… I am relaxed… I do not fear what waits for me in dreams…. For all hell’s creatures have been captured in the device in my pocket… God be with you
A lot of workplace culture died after Covid and never recovered. Yes, working from home is probably bad for you as a whole - but I’ve noticed in my own workplace that nobody uses the environment as a social launchpad anymore - which should be its biggest utility.
I remember in pre Covid times there were at least moments of serendipitous fun. In this post Covid era rife with economic pessimism, I get the sense that people are generally afraid to take any sort of liberties in the workplace, even if it’s something as benign as taking a long lunch.
Fridays used to have a good energy to them. Now I dread them. You can hear a pin drop in my office most Fridays. Small talk has been killed in the name of productivity. I know this isn’t all workplaces but I have a feeling I’m not alone here.
If you’re lucky enough to work somewhere that hasn’t been managed-to-death, count your blessings. Otherwise I am forced conclude that working from home is the lesser evil, even if not by much.
