African Arbiters at the 46th Chess Olympiad
Featuring Uganda’s own International Arbiters Stephen Kisuze, Victoria Nakiirya and FIDE Master Okas Walter (Fair Play).
The Uganda Chess Federation congratulates IA Stephen Kisuze, IA Victoria Nakiirya and FM Okas Walter on serving as arbiters and Fair Play Arbiter at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Their appointment to officiate at the biggest team event on the world calendar is a milestone for Uganda’s officiating bench, not only for the two of them.
From club halls and national championships at home to the playing venue in Samarkand, their presence is recognition of Ugandan officials inside the international arbiter community.
Service at the Olympiad is a personal achievement for each of them, and a mark of the work the Federation has put into training and qualifying match officials.
The Olympiad brings together the world’s strongest teams and the officials who keep those matches clean. Two International Arbiters from Uganda on that list is proof that the investment in the laws of chess, not only in the players, is showing.
Congratulations, IA Stephen Kisuze, IA Victoria Nakiirya and FM Okas Walter.
A proud moment for Uganda.
A milestone for our arbiters.

I had a quick browse through the Samarkand #ChessOlympiad standings last night and was blown away by Uganda's performance in both the Open and Women's sections.
Whatever @256chessfed are doing, it's working and I hope they do even better in Abu Dhabi.
Congratulations to East Africa's chess powerhouse!
