“This really tugs at the heart strings, and shows prisoners are people with feelings, who often just need a helping hand. Songbird is a wonderful idea.” Find out more about our Songbird project 👇 buff.ly/2QEgySt

Being recognised as something other than ‘an Offender’ as Artist, Musician, or Poet, changes a life. New motivation, commitment & self-esteem can be the start to rehabilitation. It's from here that our #ThroughTheGate work can begin.

Many people might say that prison isn’t meant to be easy. It isn’t. 308 people died in prison in the year to September 2019. A quarter were self-inflicted. Self-inflicted deaths are over six times more likely in prison than in the general population.

“For a small charity... you pack a big punch in supporting offenders – which we know has been especially important during the pandemic.” Such kind words from Paul Streets of @LBFEW, commenting on their recent support of our work 💜💗💜

Through partnerships with social enterprise, Pictora, and probation we celebrate the work of artists from different backgrounds, bringing out often hidden talent to be ‘Made Visible’. Explore the art here buff.ly/3rLHLTj #OutsiderArt #MadeVisible

A recent donor gave us this wonderful feedback 👇 "Keep up the person centred innovative approach to supporting people. Songbird brought great joy to many and helped to bridge distant relationships. Great organisation and deserving of public support." buff.ly/2WbMyjD

What do we do? We offer prisoners and ex-prisoners creative expression through music and the arts with mentoring support, inspiring them to lead more productive and positive lives.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you, this Songbird is a great idea, it means a lot when you’re in prison...being able to do this for my Son is special.” It's feedback like this that keeps us going. Songbird is just one project delivered as part of our creative rehabilitation work.

Through our community partnerships with @Probation_Works and others, people like 'Alan' are supported in their transition to life outside prison. Creativity is the start, the support we offer goes much further. buff.ly/3vkSNO4
