So the final stage of the Tour de France is going to do three loops of Montmartre, just like in the Olympics. That'll be brilliant. I'm looking forward to the spectacle.👍😀 – at Bromley, London

I spoke to Alice Towers about what happened in the peloton during the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad race, which played out in an extraordinary way, with a surprise winner. She's happy for the winner but would like an honest race. (Photo: Canyon-SRAM/Tino Pohlmann) 2wheelchick.cc/2025/03/road-… – at Bromley, London

Good to see a couple of cycle racers among the nominations for the Laureus World Sports Awards - Tadej Pogačar for sportsman of the year, and Tom Pidcock for Action Sportsperson of the year. They're both up against stiff competition though. laureus.com/world-sports-awa… – at Bromley, London

UCI is due to make its decision on the use of carbon monoxide rebreathers in cycling. Are these devices really worth it? Do they make a significant additional difference to overall performance after training at altitude? Clinical trials are inconclusive. open.substack.com/pub/2wheel…

Watching Rob Brydon's (aka Bryn's) stereotyped portrayal of an amateur cyclist (a MAMIL even) on #GavinAndStacey made me chuckle. The helmet-cam, replica world champion's jersey, it did happen cos it's on Strava, the angry cyclist...trope-tastic! Where did he get the mitts from? – at Bromley, London

Enjoying watching a bit of Dave Allen. Vintage comedy, but still some clever lines. Given this was in the 80s the guy was ahead of his time. – at Bromley, London

It was a pleasure to interview 100-year old Charles Coste. He won gold in the 4,000m team pursuit at Herne Hill Velodrome in the London 1948 Olympics, and is the oldest surviving French Olympic medallist. My write-up on Charles Coste is in this month's @rouleur magazine. #cycling – at Bromley, London

I've always enjoyed this little tune - fun and uplifting. Rest in Peace Quincy Jones - one of the understated greats in music. youtu.be/T5ALPzS0QfQ?si=28lc… – at Bromley, London

I'm really sickened and saddened to read the news about the athlete Rebecca Cheptegei, who competed in the Paris Olympics. The attack occurred in front of her kids on returning home from church. A truly horrible example of domestic violence. Rest in Peace. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3vx…

Wow, @bbcproms has gone all #disco. Boogie Nights, Chic, Odyssey, Gloria Gaynor, and er...Boney M. I must say I do think there's something cool about symphony orchestras playing pop songs. #BBCProms – at Bromley, London

Pleased to have caught up with two American Olympic champions - Kristen Faulkner and Connie Carpenter-Phinney. The latter also happens to be the mother-in-law of Tour de France Femmes winner, Kasia Niewidoma. Nice to keep it in the family. #womenscycling cyclingnews.com/features/a-t… – at Bromley, London

This year's @LeTourFemmes has made for great viewing, with interesting stages. Today was the icing on the cake with a 4-second overall winning margin. Congrats to Kasia Niewiadoma - a well-deserved & popular victory. Commiserations to Demi Vollering. Cue the SD Worx post-mortem. – at Bromley, London

It's come full circle with American (Kristen Faulkner) winning the women's Olympic cycling road race 40 years after the inaugural event in Los Angeles, also won by an American, Connie Carpenter-Phinney. And we now have equal numbers of men & women in the races too. #CyclingRoad – at Bromley, London

Good luck to the 10 Africans in the women's Olympic cycle race today. That's a record turn-out. I spoke to a few of them about their challenges. Credit to the organisations that work to help them achieve their goals. @CyclingAfrica @WMNcycling #CyclingRoad cyclingnews.com/features/par… – at London, England

This is a big problem in women's sport. I feel terrible for #AngelaCarini. It shouldn't have been allowed to happen. The International Olympic Committee needs to ensure fair & safe competition in women's sport. This lady had her nose broken within seconds. Things could get worse.
Huge intervention by UN Special rapporteur on violence against women and girls

When I go to Paris I usually stay on the east side around Vincennes. It's a nice residential area with woodland and parkland for running and walks. Great to see the riders in the Olympic time trial going through the Bois de Vincennes. Shame about the rain. #Paris2024 #cycling – at Bromley, London
