Mapan uses code to create works with the textures and irregularities of drawing, painting and printmaking. In Anticyclone (2022), he takes inspiration from the atmospheric forces that shape our surroundings. High pressure, rotation and airflow are interpreted through compositions that recall crayon on paper, giving vast weather systems a delicate, hand-drawn quality. Anticyclone #578 will be featured in Synthetic Topographies, opening at @artblocks_io Gallery in Marfa on October 23, 2026.
