Exciting news! 🥳 One of our big plans for the #3DPollen Project over the next few years is to grow it into a globally representative database. Today, we're launching a key tool to help make that happen: Tell us what pollen you want us to scan! tinyurl.com/my3Dpollen

Many thanks to @MartaPerFer from @RHULGeography for teaching @RHULBioSci Biomes and Ecosystems module students about pollen analysis today. Fun practical identifying pollen from pollen traps, honey and bison dung + nice 3D pollen from @3Dpollenproject. Students loved it!

Very exciting to have taken the next step in this part of the project in the last couple of weeks! 🇧🇷
As I get fully back into the normal rhythms of life, I'm reflecting on what a joy and privilege it was to be in southern Brazil for @3Dpollenproject the other week. Having studied the region - and especially its Araucaria trees - for years, it was amazing to finally see them!

Our stunning new exhibition Bees: A Story of Survival is a multi-sensory feast for the ears and the eyes...including the chance to get up close to some incredible pollen models.
Replying to @OliJWilson
I also got to see my #3Dpollen models in a whole new light - etched into glass blocks and in an interactive symphony! It was an honour to contribute to the exhibition in a small way, and I'm very grateful to Wolfgang Buttress and studio for getting @3Dpollenproject involved.

On Friday I had the huge privilege of being at the opening of the #Bees: A Story Of Survival exhibition at @World_Museum. It's fascinating & immersive, and features some of the most beautiful museum interpretation. Go visit - it's on all year! liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/what…

We've been working hard preparing our outreach activities for the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity. Our activity called 'Time detectives' will have adults and kids exploring how to reconstruct environmental changes through time. @NottsPollen #FOSAC #UoN #Geography

Tropical pollen people, does this look like a grain of Moraceae pollen to you? I chanced across it while scanning a slide of modern Myrtaceae from Brazil and I'm not too sure what it is. Suggestions very welcome! #3Dpollen

A hypothetical* scenario for you: Let's say someone** had a few really big #3Dpollen models - one or two metres across and weatherproof kind of thing. Would anyone be interested in borrowing them? What would you do with them? Let me know! It's for a plan. *only partly🤞 **🥸

In a welcome distraction from the woes of a Uni in crisis and the complete lack of interest from the media (thanks election), today I examined pollen from the remains of a beehive washed up on Chatham Island. The pollen will provide the key to where the hive came from!
