genuinely how is this relevant? we should focus on how predatory and exploitative the contract that ๐—›๐—ฌ๐—•๐—˜ made 14-17 year old newjeans sign is
how did nyt get their contracts

The same thing happens in the workplace. if you don't submit to the employer's conditions, you don't get the job, and if you don't work, you don't eat. That's why unions and guilds exist, to serve as a counterbalance.

The problem is the system and the companies that make people submit to those conditions just to be able to debut. If you don't sign, you don't debut, and someone else will accept the same conditions.
I agree that parents have a responsibility to protect their children, but letโ€™s not lose sight of the main issue. The problem is that NewJeans were children. Even if they disagreed with certain things, all they could think about was how much they wanted to become idols

One thing I never seen in any kpop group before is all 5 were treated equally & given the same opportunities. no member was pushed to the back and given scraps. They were all the face of the group not just one or two pushed while the others left to rot
Anyone who followed Newjeans journey for the two years before this mess would remember how incredibly fair they were to the Newjeans members. They had long schedules due to demand but were given extended breaks after promotional periods, allowed to return to their families etc

MHJ wanted to manage NewJeans' activities independently, the girls and their families wanted to debut after the delays and ghosting from SOURCE/BSH, everyone thinking HYBE/BSH were professionals, etc. An average case of sheep acting in good faith while being led by wolves.
Everyone forgets that NewJeans was shelved at Source Music, which was why MHJ threatened to publicly quit and give up her SM shares to create ADOR. BSH took advantage of that situation to have her sign a trap contract & draft the current exclusive contract for NewJeans.

parents arent perfect but blaming individuals for the cruelty of a system just creates callous disconnected ppl & when newjeans screamed and shouted for help these ppl blamed them & their families "why did you sign it?" & it gives the perpetrator a chance to get away with it

and when they tried to get their kids out these same ppl were the 1st to call them stupid and say they ruied the kids. so we just need to focus on the real problem, the company.

Also, IIRC, the ADOR VP, at the time, was a pick by HYBE. It wasn't until sometime in 2023 that he board was replaced by MHJ's picks
