Well, another Cardinal has come out with a, shall we say, puzzling take on evangelization.
A few years ago, Cardinal Américo Aguiar, at the time auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, said that he and the other organizers of World Youth Day in his hometown had no interest in converting anyone to Christ.
Now Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria has opined that “the Church is not there to convert” and “Christians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.”
Excuse me, but…what?
Last time I checked, the Founder said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Sure sounds like conversion to me.
When St. Paul came to Corinth or Athens or Thessalonica, his purpose was not to listen or to form a discussion group but rather to declare an unnerving message: the euangelion (glad tidings) that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead.
So impassioned is he for this work that he says, “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:22); and “If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:16)!
Moreover, the entire thrust of the Second Vatican Council was toward bringing the Light of Christ to the peoples of the world (Lumen Gentium). And this missionary élan has given rise in the last few decades to the idea of a “new evangelization,” which is to say, a fresh declaration of the Lordship of Christ.
Quite obviously, no one thinks that this work of evangelization should be done in a brow-beating, overbearing, or disrespectful manner (proselytization), but for God’s sake, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"

The education establishment in America is bankrupt.
5 changes created the perfect storm:
1) In the first half of the 20th century universities slowly abandoned the historical goals of education. They traded human formation and the passing down of a civilizational inheritance for “skills”, credentials, and eventually the deconstruction of a civilizational inheritance.
2) In the 60’s and 70’s universities sounded the alarm about overpopulation and climate hysteria. America listened and the birth rate began to fall and the stage was set for the “demographic cliff” currently rocking college enrollment.
3) The dot com revolution of the 1990’s eliminated a chief value prop for higher education. For centuries universities quite literally owned the books and in doing so access to knowledge. They controlled access to the world’s accumulated wisdom. Then suddenly anyone with a desktop or eventually a smart phone had access to more than the libraries of Harvard or Oxford could ever imagine.
4) The housing market crash of 2008 caused parents to rethink the value prop of a college degree. This, combined with the collapsing birth rate put universities in an arms race to build campuses like resorts in an effort to win over the dwindling pool of students. Tuition soared.
5) 5) The AI revolution delivered the final blow. Universities had already abandoned the formation of human beings in favor of information delivery, credentialing, and job preparation. Now artificial intelligence threatens to outperform them at all three: it can deliver information instantly, teach technical skills on demand, and increasingly prepare people for (or perform) the very jobs universities promise to unlock.
The irony is that universities abandoned what would have made them irreplaceable in pursuit of what technology can now do better.
Their only path to survival is to return to the ancient telos and the timeless work of human formation, enculturation, and civilizational transmission.
If such universes need a fitting entrance exam for such an education I know a guy 😉

Trump won the popular vote and an electoral college landslide with an historic mandate. The GOP controlled the House, Senate, White House, and a 6-3 SCOTUS majority.
Then they blew it all away by fighting Israel’s war.
THEY HAVE NOBODY TO BLAME BUT THEMSELVES.

The most damning chart in America. The stock market and GDP mean absolutely nothing if young men can't buy a home and get married.

Prosperity and peace are imminently attainable for everyone in this country. We need merely to transcend the parties that keep us fighting each other, throw off the corporate and foreign influence on our government, and return to the principles laid out in our Constitution.

On Lindsey Graham.
Stay with me on this.
The worst kept secret in Washington DC came out today because 3 brave men came out and told the truth and it doesn’t matter if it is after he’s dead.
Brave?
Yes brave.
Why are they brave?
They had to go on camera and tell intimate details of their personal lives.
To the world.
That is extremely difficult to do. Yes it’s brave. And Stressful. They walked into the public square opening themselves to the opinions of the entire world.
No matter your opinion on the issue, they took a courageous leap in coming forward.
If you are critical, would you go on camera and tell your secrets to the entire world?
I would bet a lot of money you wouldn’t.
Ok but there is more to this.
Because this is the world I saw up close in Washington.
I saw behind the curtain and saw ALL the wizards.
Everyone in the highest levels of power in Washington DC are keeping secrets that would destroy their entire lives.
And that’s exactly why they have power.
Not because they are so smart or qualified or the best choice for leadership.
I mean really, if you think our best and brightest are in charge then do some critical thinking and look at the pathetic state of our debt, our dollar, and how our government is run, and the outcome that affects your life.
Their secrets are the only reason these people rise to the top.
Because their secrets are not secrets.
We all knew Lindsey Graham was gay. Everyone did.
Their secrets are levers of control. Keeps them in line. Makes them a team player. And will make them fight the hardest on issues that don’t make sense in order to keep their secrets just that. Secrets.
So everyone is arguing about how this is old news, why now? Or arguing about being gay, and gay issues. Or arguing because that’s what everyone does on the internet, just argue with each other and with bots about issues they don’t have the real truth on, but throw out their strongest opinion anyways.
I’m here to tell you the granular issue you need to dial in on and block out the rest of the noise.
Three gay men just bravely pulled back the curtain and tried to teach you all the most important lesson America needs to learn.
It’s this.
America’s most powerful leaders keep secrets that comprise them in the most dangerous ways for the security, safety, and prosperity of our nation.
That’s the whole point.
I tried my hardest to fight the entire system on both sides of the aisle and couldn’t beat it because YOU ALL keep voting these people back into office and back into power.
By the way, I always cosponsored the Term Limit bill and no matter who is in charge, Pelosi, McCarthy, or Johnson, Dem or Rep, that bill never ever got even close to getting a vote on the House floor.
So the question for you, The American People, is are you able to learn the lesson and if so, what exactly are YOU going to do about it?
Ask yourself, what are you voting for? Donating to? Volunteering for?
And are you really satisfied with the outcome election cycle after election cycle?

One big thing forgotten…
52% of Americans 65+ have a traditional pension.
Only 20% of Americans ages 25–54 do.
Boomers were promised retirement income for life.
Younger generations were handed a 401(k) and told to figure it out.
This is one of the most overlooked reasons Boomers can afford to stay in their homes while younger generations struggle to buy them.
The generational wealth divide isn’t just about home prices.
It’s about who gets guaranteed income and who gets all the risk.
So the boomers generation bought houses for $30,000 that are now worth $600,000.
They got jobs without degrees that now require a bachelor’s.
They paid a fraction of today’s college tuition.
And somehow, wages haven’t kept up with the cost of living.
Now young people are drowning in rent, student loans, and bills while being told to compete with AI for the same jobs.
Then we’re expected to fund a retirement system we might not even benefit from ourselves.
HOW DID THE DREAM BECOME AFFORDABLE FOR ONE GENERATION AND A SUBSCRIPTION WE CAN’T CANCEL FOR THE NEXT?

Professor Jiang: "If the Democratic candidates said... we will stop this war in Iran, or two, we will have a moratorium on data centers, or three, we'll force the release of the Epstein files, there would be a blue tsunami... But they don't say any of these three things."
This is the perfect example of the comments I get from MAGA.
"If Trump was in the Epstein files, why didn't Biden go after him?"
Because DEMOCRATS are in them TOO, my loves.
When I say it's all of them, I mean it's LITERALLY FUCKING ALL OF THEM.
