Newham is already the heart of London’s transport infrastructure. We’re home to London City Airport, major roads and great rail links. I welcome plans to connect Stratford International with Europe. Let’s make it happen.
Stratford is one of Europe’s great regeneration success stories. It’s ready for its next chapter - European rail links.
I’m proud to say I’m working with the government to deliver new cross-Channel trains from East London. The benefits would be felt far beyond our city.

I’m proud to confirm that the Council will officially mark Tamil Heritage Month in January. I’ve met with Tamil residents, including business owners, and know how important this is. We’ll work with Tamil organisations across Newham to make it a huge success.
When people voted Labour in 2024, they wanted the sort of policies @andyburnham announced today. Labour is on the side of ordinary working people and I'll work with Andy and his government to make sure Newham benefits from this strong, principled Labour government
It was great to meet @SadiqKhan and @metecoban92 to speak about Newham's water ways and how we can work to reduce people's bills and make the borough cleaner and greener.
Great to meet @GMBGarySmith, General Secretary of @GMB_union at conference. Unions are a vital part of our movement and it was great to talk about my plans for jobs and a fairer deal for workers in Newham.
London's transport network wouldn't function without the hard work of cleaning staff, including Newham residents. I welcome this pilot as a step towards in-sourcing, promoting better working conditions and a more efficient service for Londoners.
A new comprehensive pilot exploring how @TfL can deliver cleaning services in-house will begin this week.
I’ve long championed insourcing where possible, and that of course includes our hard working and essential cleaning staff. I’m pleased that TfL is taking this important step both for customers and for the dedicated cleaning colleagues who help keep London moving.
I want to thank the RMT for their work and invaluable input.

It was great to join @SME4LABOUR to talk about our ambition for Newham's town centres. We need to back entrepreneurs and support existing businesses. When our high streets thrive, our communities thrive too.
Today I told the @LGA_Labour rally how @newham_labour are fighting for our residents, putting Labour's values into action and winning back voters.
Buses are a lifeline for working-class Londoners, including in Newham. It's important services are reliable and safe. I'm delighted @SadiqKhan has worked with our friends @unitetheunion to bring the first buses in 30 years back into public ownership.
A new chapter for London’s buses ❤️
I’m launching Buses for London with @TfL - the capital’s publicly owned bus company.
