Joe Burrow admits that spending more than three years as a backup at Ohio State made him question whether his confidence was actually delusion “At Ohio State, I was definitely questioning myself. I thought, ‘I’m working so hard in the weight room.’ ‘I’m playing really well in practice.’ But I felt like nobody was really taking notice. Nobody was seeing the improvement.” “‘Do I have a warped sense of myself?’ ‘Do I have a warped sense of how I’m playing?’ ‘Or what kind of quarterback I am?’ Those three and a half years were definitely tough.” “I had so much confidence in the work I was putting in. And the growth that I was having. But I felt like not a lot of people had confidence in me. Really, all I had was the confidence in myself… And the work that I was putting in… Would eventually come to light and pay off. Thank God it did.”
