this guy and most of the replies are trying to apply psuedointellectual bullshit to people they don’t understand in my experience, most speedrunners started out as kids and now have less time to spend as they focus on their future stem career (SO many cs majors!)

Video game speedrunning might be the largest misallocation of human capital of all time You have 150+ IQ gigaautists devoting their lives to beating Mario Kart levels 0.00001 seconds faster instead of curing cancer or something

since Mario Sunshine is on a lotta people's minds rn I wanna share my favourite fun fact about this game: Isle Delfino actually has its own fictional language and a lot of those squiggly signs you see across the game can be fully deciphered into legible words

So, I was asked today if I want to be serenaded. I told them I'd rather off myself.

Two young toughs, one smoking a cigarette, are standing under a sign that says "Gatekeeping Club." One says to a passer-by "pfft, nice Ramones shirt, poseur." The other one says "quick! name five of their albums." Another man, enamoured with their antics comes up behind them and asks "hey fellas! can I join gatekeeping club?" The first gatekeeper says "absolutely!" The second gatekeeper says "the more, the merrier!"

It actually happened. 602 in under 19 hours. This is by far the best speedrun I've ever done and one of my greatest achievements in general. I can't believe I actually pulled this off after being so demotivated this past year and only coming back 2 months ago. I'M THE GOAT
