Error on the first play of a World Series game. In the 7th, Cooper Pratt, 22, lines the go-ahead single. Brewers 5, Rays 4.
Pat Murphy's lesson: how a game starts does not decide how it ends.
What do you say to your kid after the error?

WS Game 1, 9th. Brewers turn a game-ending double play and celebrate. Replay overturns it. Tying run on third. Trevor Megill walks back up and strikes out the next hitter. The call went away. The job did not. 8thdaybaseball.com/free What does your kid do after a bad call?
Travel ball parents: average near $2,000/yr for one kid on one club team. Tournament fees in the hundreds. Showcase fees $100-$1,000 a pop. That buys reps and exposure. It doesn't build character or a swing on its own. @8thdaybaseball 8thdaybaseball.com/2026/10/0… #TravelBaseball
"Let my right hand forget its skill." Psalm 137:5 (via adailypsalm.com). Skill fades fast in the off-season if nobody protects it. New: Strength Literacy for Baseball Parents. @8thdaybaseball #baseballtraining 8thdaybaseball.com/product/s…
The ones who wait for their pitch sleep better at night. Your kid's game is not about swinging at every offering—it's about knowing what to hunt. Plate discipline is quiet. It's also the difference between contact and excellence.
Koshien. Two nights. Two shutouts. DeNA 2-0, then 1-0 tonight on a Shugo Maki solo homer in the 8th. Hanshin managed two hits at home. Seven BayStars arms covered nine innings. Pitching travels in October, every league. Tell your kid: one run wins if you throw strikes. When did your team last win 1-0? 8thdaybaseball.com/free
Transfer portal season. Programs rebuilding whole rosters, players chasing a bigger role somewhere else. The jersey changes. The work that gets you on the field doesn't. @8thdaybaseball 8thdaybaseball.com #CollegeBaseball
Psalm 44:6, I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory. Not my bat speed either. Train hard, trust harder. @8thdaybaseball 8thdaybaseball.com #walkbyfaith
Peralta hit 99.4. Hardest of his career. Six shutout innings. Rays even the ALCS 1-1. Tell your kid: pressure unlocks you when you stay ready. Free hitting guide: 8thdaybaseball.com/free
Parker Messick. Five innings in ALCS Game 2, zero earned runs. An error behind him, three unearned runs, and he takes the loss. Rays 3, Guardians 1. He did his job and the box score still says L.
What do you tell a pitcher who threw well and lost anyway?
Nobody's in the stands for fall practice. Just the reps nobody's watching in October that show up in March. @8thdaybaseball #HighSchoolBaseball 8thdaybaseball.com
"Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he." Ps 135:6 KJV. You own the work, He owns the results. Today's drill: the Towel Drill, swing through without clipping it. @8thdaybaseball 8thdaybaseball.com #baseballtraining
ALCS Game 1, tied in the 8th. Nathaniel Lowe, an ex-Ray in the Rays' building, down 0-2 to a lefty. He stays on it. Single up the middle, two runs, Guardians steal Game 1.
The count does not decide the at-bat. The next swing does.
What do you tell your kid with two strikes?
Game 1 of the NLCS: the go ahead run was a walk, a bunt, and a single. No home run needed. Fundamentals win in October too. @8thdaybaseball #MLB 8thdaybaseball.com
The best offseason programs don't look like the regular season. No games. Just reps, feedback, and testing. One hour of focused work beats five games. What does your player's offseason actually look like?
Gavin Williams closed Game 4 Thursday, his first relief outing as a pro. Two days later he started Game 5, season on the line: 5.2 shutout innings, 12 strikeouts. His words: "trying to save the pen a little bit."
Does your best player ask what the team needs or what his role is?
"The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion." Psalm 134:3. New week, new reps, same quiet faithfulness. @8thdaybaseball 8thdaybaseball.com/2026/10/1…

Four games this weekend. Maybe ten at-bats for your son. One good practice is a hundred swings with feedback on every one. Games show you where he is. Reps move him. Parents: how many non-game reps did he get this week?
