Today I saw a TikTok of a new company called @911access originally created for people with disabilities, it allows you to open the app, select an emergency type, and immediately sends your location and type of emergency to police. This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while.

If our 911 and Non-emergency line in oakland is not functioning properly, that should qualify Oakland for a state of emergency. Our 911 system is not working right not just for a lack of dispatchers. We need a new state of the art 911 system. Software, etc.
Also,Oakland residents who dial the non emergency line are NOT the reason why our 911 dispatchers CAN NOT answer our emergencies according to councilwoman carroll fife, d3. Of course, she can always find a loophole to blame someone else besides holding herself and our city government accountable for how they choose to advocate for Oakland's public safety.
Sheng Thao claims it will be fixed by next year. Sis, the city that you are the MAYOR of cannot access 911 or the non-emergency line for help RIGHT NOW! what part of that do you NOT UNDERSTAND?
How many Oakland residents have not been able to call 911 or our non-emergency line to report an emergency or an issue on the rise that will eventually become an emergency?
How many Oakland residents have dialed 911 or the non-emergency line, and you get a busy single or get hung up on?
How many senior citizens or caregivers are worried that in the event of a medical emergency, they will not be able to get through to 911?
Recently, I sat down with @CandiceNguyenTV @nbcbayarea
news to discuss my recent experience with trying to call 911 and our non-emergency line when my children and I were trapped in our car in between two gunmen trying to shoot one another. I couldn't reach 911 or our non-emergency number at all.

If you’re a devout reader of my column, you’ll notice I’ve posted stories in the last several days on Candice’s text-to-911 reporting as well as the FCC’s meeting on Thursday with a slew of accessibility items on the docket.
The @FCC is considering new rules to improve emergency services for people w/ disabilities & non-English speakers.
@nbcbayarea recently found 911 texting may be slower at locating a person in need, disproportionately impacting the Deaf.
