BREAKING: Rep. Lauren Boebert gets slammed with terrible news as an official complaint is filed with the FEC alleging that she illegally spent $60,000 on "get out the vote" calls and texts in the lead-up to her tight midterm election.
This spending would qualify as in-kind independent expenditures, but Boebert failed to report it as such. The complaint was filed by End Citizens United.
"Boebert may have made an illegal in-kind contribution to herself that exceeds the $5,000 limit set by federal law, or spent money to influence another campaign without reporting it, as required by federal law," the complaint indicates.
"Congresswoman Boebert used her leadership PAC as a personal bank but, unfortunately for her, this practice is illegal under federal law," the President of End Citizens United President said.

Armadillos collect leaf litter they use to build nests in their burrows. Because of the specific armadillo's body shape, the animal opts for bunching a pile of leaves up against their abdomens and hopping backwards toward their nest

I'm very happy with this! 😁Many thanks to my family, friends and supervisors @SteveBrusatte @ABQTomW and Sarah Shelley that support me through these interesting 4 years! And many congrats to @kynigopoulou too!
Congratulations to the newest Paleo PhD, Dr Hans Puschel @PuschelHans! World expert on litoptern mammals.
And one day after @kynigopoulou successfully defended her thesis.
We're super proud of both of you @GeosciencesEd!

We tend to feel pretty superior to other species with our big brains, but evolution is a game of constant trade-offs. In some situations a bigger brain actually isn't an advantage. Learn more about mammal brain development -- new video on YouTube now! youtu.be/zM340uHnOrU
For #FossilFriday, a mandible of the early Eocene mammal Coryphodon.
For #fossilfriday, the lower jaw of the rare and bizarre early Paleocene (Puercan) taeniodont mammal Wortmania - in situ. This specimen is a bit concreted, but one of the most complete of its kind ever found.

For #FossilFriday - Who says early Paleoene mammals were small? Three jaws from the Nacimiento Fm, NM (from top to bottom) Eoconodon coryphaeus (a triisodontid), Triisodon quivirensis (a triisodontid), and Ankalagon saurognathus (a mesonychid), next the skull of a gray wolf.
For #FossilFriday, the skull of Andrewsarchus mongoliensis at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Note my feet for scale. Andrewsarchus was once thought to be a mesonychian, but recent analysis place it within Artiodactyla, near entelodonts.

A big #FossilFriday congratulations to @PuschelHans for submitting his PhD thesis @GeosciencesEd!
It's a fantastic new look at some of the strangest fossil mammals ever. The South American Native Ungulates, which bamboozled Darwin himself!

I dusted off and scanned some old slides documenting the excavation and collection of our skull of Parasaurolophus tubicen (NMMNH P-25100). Here's a short story of that trip way back in 1995. abqtom.wordpress.com/2023/01…
For #FossilFriday - a right hind foot (pes) of the giant Late Cretaceous titanosaur Alamosaurus sanjuanensis - New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science.
For #fossilfriday, a lower premolar of the multituberculate mammal Mesodma formosa - one of the few mammal species found on both sides of the K/Pg boundary.
Our preparator, Justy Alicea, just printed a ~1/5 scale skull of Bistahieversor sealeyi with the museum's new 3D resin printer: youtube.com/watch?v=DBJKEw1-….

Lots of good stuff on some of the weirdest and wackiest mammals of all, the gnarly taeniodonts.
Well done Zoi! @ABQTomW Sarah & I are proud supervisors.
