Starting the new year off with our mini review on #glioma electrophysiology inspired by a #neurosurgery perspective. This was a fun one to write with a great team! 🧠

Incredible effort from a massive team led by Charlie Windolf and Erdem Varol to develop DREDge motion correction algorithm of high resolution neural data across species including humans is finally out in Nature Methods! It was an honor to be involved! nature.com/articles/s41592-0…

Our language neuroscience lab (evlab.mit.edu) is looking for a new lab manager/FT RA to start in the summer. Apply here: tinyurl.com/3r346k66 We'll start reviewing apps in early Mar. (Unfortunately, MIT does not sponsor visas for these positions, but OPT works.)
Really enjoying the incredible talks at the MIT Neurotech 2024. Even more excited that the first two talks had shout outs to natural world utilized and inspired technologies from the ocean among incredible molecular and imaging advances. Neuroethology!

I got to talk about using human brain cell models from Neuromorpho.org to illustrate brain activity recorded with Neuropixels, thin film, and other microelectrodes. @NeuroMorphoOrg & researchers have provided incredible community resources! youtu.be/EZsNFi0XJJM?si=pqTD…
New perspective piece/review from @PeterNHadar, @ZelmannRina, @PariyaSalami, myself, and Syd Cash entitled "The Neurostimulationist will see you now: prescribing direct electrical stimulation therapies for the human brain in epilepsy and beyond": doi.org/10.3389/fnhum.2024.1…
Peter came up with a great title!
This article came together in 2 days, but it really was an accumulation of literature and years of observations of the brain in response to direct electrical stimulation, where we ask if it is moving toward a prescriptive therapy. @MGH_CNTR
Since 2016: I wrote 26 grants (22 as PI)
2019: 2 paradigm-shifting papers (tinyurl.com/3wmm79bk & tinyurl.com/2ehjmje2)
Since 2020: Inspired, propose using high resolution microelectrodes to study Cancer Neuroscience in vivo.
2024: Notice of Award for my first R01*!!
* notably after many attempts!!! There's too many people to thank, but I especially thank Sydney Cash lab at MGH, the Shadi Dayeh lab @UCSDJacobs , Drs. Gavin Dunn, Daniel Cahill, Ziv Williams, Isabel Arrillaga-Romany, and @MGHNeurology @MGHNeurosurg @MGH_CNTR @MGHNeuroSci !!!!

New TBS findings w/ iEEG by brilliant @YuhaoHuangMD! TBS → plasticity in minutes; DLPFC stim affects ACC; Connectivity predicts response! 🧠⚡️Opens new avenues for TBS optimization. More w/ TMS-iEEG, 3x TBS & units soon! Thanks @ACPaulk & team for collaborating 🙏 @StanfordBrain
Theta-burst stim (TBS) is used to treat depression, but how does it work? I dug into this question in my research yr with @DrCoreyKeller @ACPaulk, now out in @NatureComms, finding that TBS can produce plasticity-like changes in just minutes of stim. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
