A true classic:
Attack Retrieve Capture (ARC) is a classic free 2D top-down multiplayer PC game from the late 1990s, often described as a fast-paced, team-based shooter with capture-the-flag (CTF) action.
It was created by John Vechey and Brian Fiete (who later co-founded PopCap Games) as a college project, initially released in public beta around 1997 under Hoopy Entertainment. It later moved through publishers like Total Entertainment Network (TEN), World Opponent Network (WON), and Sierra Entertainment before official servers shut down in 2007.
A dedicated community kept it alive through revivals like Spark, ARC++, and the current browser-based successor Armor Critical.
