I’m not a US citizen, nor do I live there. However, a lot of my friends do, and I visit the country often. Additionally, international politics, especially those in my country, very often follow extremely closely behind those of the US. I don’t often get extremely loudly political as this online persona anymore, mostly due to how rubbish the politics of the VTubing sphere has become over the years, and me really not wanting to be a part of that and rather just focusing on making content I enjoy, but in my personal life I’m very politically active both in terms of research and activism. With that in mind, and with the personal beliefs I hold (many of which are not difficult to find out if you even remotely know me), I believe it’s absolutely imperative for democracy, human rights, and the safety of millions, if not billions of people on this planet, that results of this election favor blue. If you’re eligible, and you haven’t already, please vote this week, especially if you live in Texas, Michigan, Iowa, Florida, Georgia, Maine, North Carolina, Alaska, Ohio, or any other state where the senate race seems to be close. Even if you don’t care much for politics, or think your vote isn’t going to swing things, remember that the shitshow that started 10 years ago would’ve been preventable with a relatively small amount of additional votes. You never know how close it actually is until the results come in. Don’t listen to polls, don’t listen to those who tell you your vote doesn’t matter, this is the only opportunity every 2 years you get as an individual to make your voice heard, and force those in power to listen. Don’t waste it. While the results of this election might not immediately improve things for those who are suffering at the hands of the current administration, it’ll help prevent things from getting significantly worse, and a vote for any kind of harm reduction is still an important one. On top of that, it sends out a signal to all the other countries who typically follow closely after US politics that the current way of doing things isn’t feasible and that there’s a clear resistance towards it. It’s in your hands to help make that possible. Register, research who and what is on your ballot in your state, find your nearest polling place, and vote🙏
