Community nursing left out of the winter plan is both atrocious for public provision this winter and so typical as to be unexceptional…. Akin to the way social care was overlooked in 2020, leading to deaths and trauma. Overlooking community services fails the public @teamCNO_
The government has been urged to recognise the care being missed in people’s homes as part of its winter preparedness plans.

Whatever’s causing our problems in nursing, they won’t be solved by giving people less education and training—an argument that should surely have had its day.

A mischief of mice, a flamboyance of flamingos, a waddle of penguins (or a ‘raft’ if they are in water). What is your favourite collective noun? Feel free to suggest new ones!

And if you’re even more curious about what Parish Nurses do, here is a bite-sized definition! ⬇️
Replying to @Justacarehomeg1 @ParishNursingUK
True! Parish nurses work through churches offering health education, advice & support to people of all faiths & none a/c to population need, scope of practice & local vision, not replicating @NHS but an extra layer of holistic whole person support, intentional in spiritual care.

Curious about what we do? Here it is in a nutshell ⬇️

I too share this concern, and I confess that I feel a deep unease when I see Durham Cathedral presented as though it were a 1990s nightclub. I do not say this from any dislike of music, dancing or celebration. There is a place for all these things in the richness and joy of human life. But surely there must also be places which we deliberately set apart for God.
Durham Cathedral is not simply a magnificent medieval building, nor merely part of our national heritage. It is holy ground. For centuries, people have crossed its threshold carrying their joys and sorrows, their hopes and fears, their prayers and their grief. Within its walls they have knelt before God, received the Sacraments, mourned their dead, given thanks for life and sought that silence in which the voice of God may sometimes be heard.
Here rests St Cuthbert, a man whose life was shaped by prayer, solitude and an extraordinary desire for God. Here too we honour St Bede, who devoted his life to learning, truth and holiness. Their memory is not simply historical. It belongs to the spiritual character of this sacred place.
Perhaps this is what troubles me most. In an increasingly noisy and restless world, we desperately need places which remind us that not everything has to entertain us. We need places where we can simply become still; places which lift our eyes beyond ourselves towards eternity.
There are countless places where we may dance, celebrate and enjoy music. But there are comparatively few places where, after centuries of prayer, we may enter the silence, kneel before God and know within the depths of our soul:
This is holy ground.
I find myself uneasy seeing Durham Cathedral presented as a 90s nightclub. This is not simply an impressive medieval building; it is a place of prayer, pilgrimage and encounter with God. Here we honour St Cuthbert, whose life was rooted in prayer, and St Bede, who spent his life seeking truth and holiness. Our churches should be places where the sacred is protected and cherished. There are many places for dancing; I think a cathedral carries a different memory and purpose.
