This morning, a great session at @ESOF_eu with the mathematician, Fields Medalist @AFigalli from @ETH. He explained the very wide range of applications of the concept of optimal transport -- crystallography, meteorology, economics, imaging, artificial intelligence etc.

"Moving masses cheaply", this is how Fields medalist @AFigalli summarized the goal of his #mathematics interests in his keynote at #ESOF2020 . But cartoonist @Leo_Ortolani warned him that pushing the boundaries of the field can have consequences🤣
