The data in Florida show that despite the Legislature’s billion dollar effort to raise teacher salaries, they’re still getting the short end of the stick while administrators are living large.
Union contracts at the local level block teachers from directly receiving the pay raises the Legislature has given them.
And Florida districts have more money available to them today than before universal choice. All while serving fewer students.
If school districts are looking for ways to improve their finances, they should start by trimming their administrative bloat.
If the unions are looking to give teachers a raise, they should see themselves out and let teachers receive the money they’re owed without the union middleman.

Thank you Governor @JebBush for standing firmly with Florida families and defending educational freedom.
Can’t wait to overturn Bush v. Holmes!
"This lawsuit is a desperate attempt to undermine the nation’s largest and most successful school choice programs and bar parents from making decisions about where and how their children are educated."

Well said, Governor @JebBush! If there’s anyone who knows about the naysayers with charters it’s you.
Success Academy will provide higher standards and stronger outcomes for Florida’s disadvantaged students. In New York, 96% of Success Academy students pass the state math exam and 92% pass the English Language Arts exam—clear evidence of their ability to deliver exceptional results. Their decision to bring this proven track record to Florida is a major win for students and families across the state.

Florida became a model for the rest of the nation when we passed legislation in 2023 to remove cell phones from classrooms, and I was proud to help spearhead that effort. I believe there is more we can do to further promote ideal learning environments and increase student achievement, which is why I've filed SB 1296. This will allow us to take a closer look at phone-free school campuses, which I believe can encourage students to connect more personally with each other and their teachers and better support their academic efforts.
Proud to have the support of @JebBush's @AFloridaPromise, which has noted that data shows eliminating the distraction of cell phones, not just in the classroom but on campus throughout the school day, results in better school climate and academic outcomes.
