Growing up, wild gooseberries were among Viola Maina favourite childhood fruits. Years later, those memories would inspire her to turn an underutilised fruit into a commercial opportunity. A former media professional, now founder of Gooseberry Delight Limited, based in Eldoret.
Her journey began with a challenge familiar to many: finding a market. She encouraged farmers to grow gooseberries, but they asked, “Where is the market?” She committed to buying their harvests and worked with researchers to train farmers. #africafruitconnect
