Mike Ditka was the embodiment of a Pitt man. He brought the toughness and pride of western Pennsylvania to Pitt and carried our name to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In his memory, @Pitt_FB will wear 89 decals tomorrow against UNC. Our condolences to the Ditka family. #H2P 🔵🟡

Christy and I spent time at @bgcwpa earlier this week, and it stuck with us. Since 1888, this organization has given young people across our region safe spaces, caring mentors, and a real shot at success. Today they serve 12,000 kids and teens across four counties. 1,600 of them get connected to the power of sports every single year. Pitt student-athletes are in the mix too, mentoring BGCWPA's Club Kids and Teens and helping them build skills that carry on and off the field. Pittsburgh is better because of the work this organization does every day! #H2P 🔵🟡

Last week I had the chance to meet w/ Dean Bruce Childers to talk about his personal journey and the future of School of Computing & Information (SCI). Their undergraduate computer science program just jumped 14 spots to a Top 50 national ranking, the highest in school history! Fueling that rise is Pitt's emergence as a leader in AI innovation! But more than that, they embody everything it means to be Pitt family - their grit, their determination, and perhaps most notably, their gratitude for the people who helped carry them to this moment. Great to start the week with Dean Eboni M. Zamani-Gallaher from the School of Education! Many of our student-athletes study in the School of Education, which prepares them to use the same discipline, leadership and resilience that shows up every day on our fields and courts. The school also offers Exercise Science BS and MS programs, along with minors in Fitness Coaching and Aquatics, giving students a direct path to careers in sport and wellness. It's a reminder that what our student-athletes learn in competition doesn't stop there. Many of them go on to shape the next generation, in classrooms, on sidelines and in communities far beyond Oakland. Proud of the partnership between Pitt Athletics and Pitt Education, and grateful for leaders like Eboni who help make that path possible. #H2P 🔵🟡

Helluva conversation with Jerry Dickinson, dean of Pitt Law! This guy is the real deal and I see why Pitt Law is building momentum! A few highlights worth sharing: Pitt Law grads are landing jobs at an impressive clip, ranked #3 nationally by National Jurist for most improved employment rate, with 98.1% of recent graduates employed. The school also holds the #1 spot in Pennsylvania for First-Time Bar Passage Rate and was named one of the nation's Best Value Law Schools. Dean Dickinson and his team continue expand opportunities for students through experiential learning, public interest work and alumni connections in the Pittsburgh legal community.
