#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 25 Costumes There's only one that comes to mind from Rites of Departure, and that's the outfit Arcane Sister Philomena is wearing when she's first introduced. She leads the death goddess' followers, and was wearing a replica of the goddess' arcane armor.

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 22 Do you have any spooky settings in your WIP? In Rites of Departure, most of the story is set at a haunted manor house/estate. Some buildings are nicely kept, others are mostly abandoned due to paranormal activity. The chapel is especially eerie.

His eyesight has always been better than mine. That's yet another thing I can't get fixed; it's even more nonessential than correcting my blood condition. I've learned to live with my world being blurred at a distance, and my shoddy vision is one reason I don't mind sitting on the dune with Pablo as three people prepare to row out to their deaths. I'll see the tentacles rise from the water, see the vague shapes of the unfortunate souls as they're dragged from their vessel into the churning sea, but I won't see the gory details. The blood, the chunks of flesh, the severed limbs; those will be lost to my sight. I will hear their screams, but not everyone cries out when the devils find them.
