So true!
I cannot recall any other time in the tech industry when the COMPLETE industry (from small to large companies; nonprofits to VC-funded; private sector to government and academia) is trying to figure out how to change the dev tools and processes we use. all AT THE SAME TIME!!

🔔 Just Announced: Nathen Harvey (DORA) & Laura Tacho (AWS) to host a Fireside Chat at AI Impact Week Join them on Day 1 as they discuss the trends in how AI adoption, assistance, and agents are paying off across your teams. You'll hear them discuss topics like: - What's the AI-adoption problem engineering leaders aren't admitting to yet? - As AI takes over more of the day-to-day coding work, where do you expect bottlenecks to show up in 2027? - Which metrics are quietly lying to engineering leaders right now, and what should replace or supplement them? - As engineers grapple with the changing dynamics of their job, what can leaders do to keep them engaged and excited about the work? - What's the one thing an engineering leader should measure or change this quarter, not next year? Don't miss the chance to hear from these developer experience luminaries...register today: jellyfish.co/events-and-webi… #AIImpactWeek #AITransformation

Last week, we hosted The AIDLC Table in New York along with SpaceXAI and Liatrio, bringing engineering and technology leaders together to talk candidly about what they’re seeing inside their organizations. No presentations. No pitches. Just open conversations about what’s working...and where teams are still trying to find their footing. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so engaging and informative. #AIDLC #AITransformation

How do you set durable DevAI goals given the complexity and rapid change in the space? The good news is, distinct “styles” of DevAI are becoming evident, providing a basis for setting expectations and goals. More on this idea: adamferrari.substack.com/p/p…

Kind of a wild observation from @andy_pavlo speaking on a @DBOS_Inc webinar: a year ago LLMs couldn’t do most of the assignments in his database course, but now they can solve most. An optimistic data point for AI taking on harder coding tasks.

Closing in on the end of the @MLB season, there’s only one team over .600 (Brewers, barely) and two teams under .400 (Rockies and White Sox). A “balance of powers” kind of year.

You can look further back for even more balanced years, but in the past quarter century, I think those are the ones.
30
With a standard deviation of winning percentages around 0.144, that makes this an even more balanced year than 2014 (at 0.146 SD), but a little less balanced than 2007 (0.138 SD).

More and more Engineering leaders I speak with have quickly graduated from “How do we get started with AI coding tools?” to the tougher question of “How do we actually measure the impact?” My latest post looks at this question adamferrari.substack.com/p/q…

Whenever I’m cutting up and boiling a large Rutabaga it definitely feels a bit like a Star Wars food. Like Aunt Beru should probably be doing this. Wash down with some nice blue milk.
One of our amazing @salsify engineers, Erik, presenting at #GraphQLConf2021 right now, highlighting two of the highest sentiment elements of our dev stack: #GraphQL and TypeScript. Really highlights the continuing importance and value of typed languages.
