I’ve always respected Cristiano Ronaldo as a player and competitor. The narratives on this app around him are mostly based off of the last few years of his career when he has been a shadow of the player he used to be and I think he gets a lot of undeserved disrespect given how great he was in his prime. Of course he hasn’t helped himself with some of his antics in recent years, but his vanity and self-belief are huge reasons for his success. Whether you like him or not he has shaped the last 2 decades of football and the game won’t be the same without him
By this logic, if Villa’s two chances should’ve given them 2 goals, then Barcelona’s 5-6 other chances should’ve given us 8-9 goals? Every chance conceded doesn’t mean the team is weak. It doesn’t mean the team couldn’t control. This is an obsessive need for perfection.

You can't correlate the Bayern game to what will happen to us vs Barca
For one, I hope Simeone isn't an idiot and doesn't play RLN
Also Barca's defence is nowhere near as physical as Bayern's, look at how upamecano dealt with Sorloth and Alvarez, Barca doesn't have that profile

Don’t really get the point of Fermin. He doesn’t elevate the creation vs good teams, actually drowns it. His sugar rush decision making + repeated runs he makes reduces chances of creating real chances that doesn’t go beyond overlapping runs into the box (that get cleared)
Great example. Barcelona’s biggest problem is not using the striker in the press. Raphinha can easily force Konate to make a pass instead of Gordon needing to. It’s forcing them to play but at their terms. Use Raphinha and let Gordon stay on Valverde.
Too immature.

The reason I was so high on signing Amadou Onana for Barcelona is because we need to focus on signing players that are not just competent technically but also physically excellent. Our physical floor is poor & it will hurt our ability to compete all-round.
Needs to change.

Like Arne Slot said, there’s no point of tactics if you can’t win your duels. Our dueling ability in this squad is absolutely shocking. Arteta prioritised improving the physical floor & turning Arsenal into a team with physical monsters from the beginning & look at them now.

I don’t think we should sell him. He’s valuable against low blocks because of his vertical threat and box crashing abilities. Also helps in counter pressing versus teams that concede territory. But he can’t be starting big games. Us with Olmo vs us with Fermin are different.

Think Iraola deserves far more credit than the general consensus seems to be right now, he’s lost ONE match at Liverpool, to City. They’re 3 wins from 3 in the UCL, on 15 points after 8 games (71-ish point pace), utilising Nyoni, Koumas, Rio, McConnell. They were one of the teams whose transfer business was most worrying, Araujo’s done well but RB, LB, central midfield, he’s managed those issues near-perfectly. Still so much to be improved on even from a coaching POV but in a transition season with a sub optimal “rebuild” in the summer, you couldn’t have asked for much more.
