Our APES shined brightly at the Monash BDI Student Symposium #BDISS2022 yesterday! Well done to everyone on their fantastic presentations! Also congrats to Kristin Hattingh for taking home a prize for her talk!
Shout out to @AnaNescolarde from @AlexKoomz lab who presented a talk today about the effects of Hypoxia on kidney organoids at the #ANZSNASM meeting in Sydney! Great job Ana! 🙌
Next up is @AnaNescolarde, from @AlexKoomz lab, talking about little kidney’s (organoids) in a dish 🧫 respond poorly to a low oxygen (hypoxia) environment. These kidneys have strong pro-inflammatory 🔥 responses & depleted energy/metabolism🪫!
Super cool data!! 🙌🙌

Normally around this time of the year I organise an event to facilitate Honours Students meeting PhD Students to talk about the PhD experience in their respective labs - to help Honours Students decide if: (1) a PhD is right for them, and (2) if that lab could be a good fit. 1/3
Congratulations to all the recent graduates from the ADB, including some of our past APES committee members! 🎓🎓🎓

The current Monash stipend ($611/wk) falls below the poverty line, and HDR students are struggling to cover rising costs of living. Please consider joining the Monash Graduate Association in increasing stipend rates and make HDR studies more accessible.

A huge congratulations to our very own @Lauren_Alesi and the rest of the @HuttLab and their collaborators for their impactful work in discovering that some immunotherapy treatments can cause fertility damage in female cancer survivors. nature.com/articles/s43018-0…
Check out our latest work published today in @NatureCancer, demonstrating that #immunotherapy causes profound and permanent impacts to ovarian function in a mouse model. Studies in women receiving these drugs must now be prioritised!
