F1/nurse/HCA and so on - it looks a terrible, horrific ordeal at the moment Glad to escape, happy to have my life saved but equally terrified at a system I don’t recognise from my training. Good luck hospital colleagues, and thank you πŸ₯ – at Headley, England

5. Hospital is scary - navigating it *as* a physician was still terrifying 6. Iatrogenic harm from system failure was evident around the place I really felt for the staff. Going home, first thing we said in the car was *who on earth* would train in that system now – at Headley, England

4 days in hospital after a nasty 🚴 πŸ’₯ Interesting being on the other side. There were generally well meaning, caring people around. But. 1. Not enough staff 2. Compassion fatigue evident 3. Bed pressure is wild 4. Care fits available resources, not what is needed – at Headley, England

1145: 205 submissions now. Open since 8am = 0.9 patient requests a minute since opening (and much faster than that for first 2 hours). Again - phone lines can't and won't solve this.
Just as an insight for people outside of GP - 0950 on post bank hol tuesday, we've had 160 patient care requests submitted as of now (12,000) practice. Likely to hit 400 for the day. EXTRA PHONE LINES DON'T GIVE YOU EXTRA STAFF TO MANAGE THIS

In my opinion, GPs have one of the most difficult jobs. I'm frequently telling patients who have been referred to me that their GP is excellent! You can tell this by the referral letter. Well done and happy Christmas to all my colleagues in primary care!
My questions to the general population: Do you think being a GP is easy? Do you think you could do better? Do you think us GPs are not as good as the hospital drs? If you could replace GPs- what would you replace us with? Who’d pay for that?

GPs have to 1) manage patients with multiple diagnoses 2) deal with problems causer by poor communications with and between hospitals and other specialists services 3) dealing with secondary services which carry out tests rather than treating the patient 4) social care problems

In welcoming Secretary of State for @DHSCgovuk, I asked him to commit to sorting out electronic prescribing between hospital consultants and GPs to help save patients and doctors time, and free up vital medical appointments.

@Parody_RCGP hope you can retweet this thread. It’s a sad but true thread to read. The loss of a new doctor after 5 years of training is terrible, but a lot of what she says is true now & in the past & likely in the future. Pay is the hardest one to deal with in these hard times!
