🚨 Assisted suicide approved in the Italian region of Umbria. It is the fifth region to do so, despite no national framework and serious concerns for vulnerable patients. Healthcare should care for people, not help end their lives. Governments should be prioritising palliative care, not death as the “solution”. Read More 👉 spuc.org.uk/italian-region-a…

Euthanizing a toddler is not compassionate. A 1-year-old Dutch child was determined to have “no prospect of improvement.” My elementary-aged daughter has the same diagnosis, writes Kayla Craig. christianitytoday.com/2026/1…

My latest for @WNGdotorg: “Benjamin Franklin once famously observed that in this world, “nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” Today, we might add a third certainty: Once assisted suicide is legalized, it expands. Recent statistics from Australia and Canada paint a sobering picture of Western society’s increasing embrace of assisted death.” wng.org/opinions/the-line-ke…

🇫🇷 Leaked French euthanasia documents admit death can take up to 11 hours of agony Working documents from France’s High Authority for Health (HAS) have leaked, revealing protocols for medical staff on euthanasia and assisted suicide. Contrary to public promises of “instant and painless death,” the papers admit that in up to 20% of cases, death takes more than five hours. Some cited studies show intervals of 6 to 11 hours. They also detail risks of oral drug failure, including vomiting, that require emergency intravenous injections. These clinical risks and the possibility of “prolonged agony” were deliberately withheld from parliamentarians during the debates. France legalized euthanasia and assisted suicide in summer 2026. The law was passed by the National Assembly and signed by President Macron. Children in the Netherlands ages 1 to 11 who have medical needs “without prospect of improvement” are legally permitted to have their lives “terminated.” The first case of parents choosing to end their child’s life was a 1-year-old diagnosed with infantile spasms syndrome. An online commenter wrote, “We don’t know what it’s like to have a child with this diagnosis, so we can’t say anything about it.” “But I do,” writes Kayla Craig. “A child with the same diagnosis (and similar disabilities) as my own daughter, Eliza, died—not from natural causes or a horrific accident but by choice. Her parents, surely overwhelmed by fear and exhaustion, chose euthanasia to end their child’s life. Disability, no matter how profound, does not and will not ever make us less human. … As Christians, we don’t assent to eugenics, because we proclaim that our being made in the image of God isn’t contingent on whether we speak to communicate or whether we check off boxes on a developmental survey. The imago Dei insists that *every* life, no matter the diagnosis or delay, bears the image of the one who gives each breath. Eliza exists because God breathed life into her. Her on-fire brain and disabled body were made in the image of God. And so was that other little one. The medical report didn’t list his or her name, so we can’t know it. What a comfort that God does.” Read the rest at the link in the comments.

Why is involuntary euthanasia on the rise? Because the concept of a "good death" presupposes something about the "good life," which is typically a life free from limitations on choice and hardship. I break it down here👇
When society accepts the idea that some people are better off dead, it’s only a matter of time before consent becomes a mere formality. @llianagordan is a Research Assistant for Domestic Policy.

Worth remembering that, had Esther had the choice of #assistedsuicide, she might have been deprived of more than three years of her life and her family deprived of their loved one. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Many laud regulations on euthanasia as a "moderate" approach to a "complicated" issue. Such a position assumes that only certain people have a right to die--typically, the disabled. I lay out the case against that position in @nationalpost this morning. Ultimately, regulating a right to die on the basis of ability lays the groundwork for the involuntary euthanasia of infants, children, and mentally handicapped elders. 👇 nationalpost.com/opinion/lia…

“The pro-assisted suicide case advanced on three related themes: choice, modernity, and compassion. Supporters thought the principle of autonomy was what mattered above all. If people had been told that they had only six months to live (the rather shaky qualification for being allowed such a death), and wished to end their lives, why should they be denied this choice?” —Charles Moore plough.com/articles/rejectin…

Notice the con. When first pushing killing as an answer to suffering, activists PROMISE that strict guidelines will protect against abuse. As soon as the law goes into effect, the guidelines are redefined as "barriers" or "discrimination," and the law is expanded. Because there can never be enough euthanasia.

“This phrase should strike terror into the hearts of decent people: ‘Life unworthy of life.’ That is how the Nazis justified their euthanasia program, which started with disabled children and was later expanded to other classes of undesirables,” Don Feder writes.
