> Is everyone else an ineffective altruist? basically yes: lots of people donate massive amounts of money to feel-good charities that pull on people's heartstrings but actually create only a medium-sized improvement in one person's life per $100,000, when they could have been ten or a hundred times more effective The health analogy would be: if you live in a society where everyone eats lots of fruit because they think it's basically the same thing as vegetables and they are very proud of this and how much effort they put in to eating fruit instead of other things; in that context, yes, you would start an "effective health" movement that gets the science right

His name in the AWF community is 123. Nobody really knows why he chose that name. He is a student from China, and he discovered blockchain in 2022. He isn’t wealthy. Far from it. He doesn’t have a huge wallet, and he has never pretended to be a big investor. Sometimes, when people in the community were talking about how much ETH they had contributed, 123 would joke about his own balance. Then he would add a few dollars anyway. That was 123. Not rich. But funny. And almost ridiculously optimistic. He had a habit of appearing in the community whenever the atmosphere became tense. Someone would say: “Do you really think Vitalik will notice us?” 123 would immediately reply: “Vitalik will post something to support us. At the very least, he’ll thank us.” Someone would worry about the community losing members. 123 would say: “Brothers, keep going. Something big is coming.” Someone would question whether Vitalik would ever interact with the token. 123 would confidently answer: “Vitalik will buy AWF. He’ll definitely participate and verify our mechanism.” Nobody knew whether he was serious. Maybe he was. Maybe half of it was optimism, and the other half was him trying to keep everyone laughing. But somehow, every time he said it, the mood changed. People would laugh. Someone would reply with a meme. Another person would say, “123, you’re dreaming again.” And 123 would simply come back with another sentence: “Just wait.” That was his personality. He didn’t have a grand theory. He wasn’t an influential figure. He didn’t control a large wallet. He couldn’t make Vitalik respond. He couldn’t make the donations happen. But he could make people believe that tomorrow might be better than today. And sometimes, that matters more than people realize. When AWF first began to grow, 123 was fascinated by what he was seeing. People from more than 100 countries were appearing in the same community. Different languages. Different time zones. Different backgrounds. Yet everyone was discussing the same thing. Charity. Ethereum. And whether a decentralized community could create something meaningful without a traditional organization standing behind it. 123 loved that. He would stay in the community late into the night. Sometimes he was supposed to be studying. Sometimes he probably should have been sleeping. But whenever something happened on-chain, he was there. A new transaction. A new member. A new donation. A new discussion. He wanted to see everything. And when the donation numbers started growing, his favorite sentence would inevitably appear: “Brothers, keep going. Something big is coming.” It became almost a running joke. Even when the market was falling. Even when people were arguing. Even when someone announced they were leaving. 123 still believed the next chapter hadn’t arrived yet. Then came the moment when the donations were returned. The mood changed. This time, even 123 couldn’t simply laugh it away. People who had been together for weeks began leaving. Some were angry. Some were disappointed. Some stopped talking altogether. The community became quieter. For someone like 123, who had spent so much time watching this group grow, it was painful. He could have walked away. He wasn’t rich enough to have a financial reason to stay. He wasn’t famous enough to have a reputation to protect. He didn’t owe anyone anything. But he stayed. And every once in a while, when someone asked whether there was still a reason to continue, 123 would return to the same optimism that had become part of his identity. Maybe not with the same confidence. Maybe with a little more silence between the words. But still: “Keep going.” Because 123 never believed that the point of AWF was simply the price of a token.

Ethereum was built on more than technology. It was built on an idea: that open networks can allow people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds to participate in something larger than themselves. That is why Every.org matters too. By connecting technology, people and charitable organizations, it helps turn good intentions into real-world impact. AWF grew from that same spirit. Today, the community brings together 2,000+ members from 100+ countries, united by one simple idea: use Ethereum’s open and transparent infrastructure to make charitable giving continuous, verifiable and global. The mechanism is simple: Every transaction carries a 2% fee, automatically directed to the designated charity wallet. No committee needs to manually collect every donation. No one needs to simply “trust” a promise. The blockchain records the movement of funds. This is where Ethereum becomes more than a financial network — it becomes infrastructure for collective action. Vitalik, perhaps the best way to understand what this community is trying to build is not through another explanation, but through experience. We sincerely hope you will try the mechanism yourself — make a transaction, observe the 2% donation flow, and verify it on-chain. Not because anyone should blindly believe AWF, but precisely because Ethereum was designed so that people do not have to. And to charitable organizations around the world: Please reach out to the AWF community. Whether your organization works in animal welfare, global health, poverty reduction, environmental protection, or other areas of effective giving, the door is open. The goal is not simply to create another token. The goal is to explore whether a global community, Ethereum’s transparent infrastructure, and organizations doing meaningful work can build a new, continuous model for charitable giving. Ethereum gave the world permissionless infrastructure. Every.org helps connect that infrastructure with charitable action. Now it is up to the community to show what can be built with it. 🌍

Who are we? We are a charity-focused cryptocurrency built and deployed on Ethereum. Created rapidly in response to @VitalikButerin’s May 12 post, this community came together around a simple but ambitious idea: Use Ethereum itself to create a continuous mechanism for charitable giving. The mechanism is simple: Every transfer or trade triggers a 2% ETH donation, automatically routed by the smart contract directly to the designated donation address. No manual collection. No promises. No middleman. The code makes every transaction contribute to charity. Contract: 0x12a77658112cf42914cb614d13653ed5852da1e5 In just over ten days, the community accumulated and donated approximately 320 ETH, including Vitalik’s own 64 ETH. As of the time this post is published, ETH is around $2,253, putting those donations at approximately $721,000. But the amount is only part of the story. On May 12, @VitalikButerin spoke about the enormous suffering inflicted on billions of animals by human consumption, calling it one of the major moral problems that remains insufficiently discussed. He also expressed optimism that this century could finally bring an end to much of that suffering, as farming practices, synthetic alternatives, and plant-based food continue to improve. That message resonated with people around the world. And this community responded. Vitalik has also spent years exploring the idea that Ethereum can be more than a financial system — that it can support public goods, experimentation, and mechanisms that create value for society. This community is trying to explore exactly that possibility: Can Ethereum turn ordinary economic activity into a continuous, transparent source of funding for charity? Not one donation. Not one campaign. But a mechanism that keeps giving as long as people keep participating. Now, the original donation destination needs to be reconsidered, and a new charitable organization needs to be designated. Every.org has already replied to the community and told us that their team is reaching out regarding this matter. @VitalikButerin, please check your email. We sincerely hope you can designate a new charitable organization so that this mechanism can continue fulfilling the intention behind your May 12 message. And there is one more thing the community hopes for: Please verify the mechanism yourself. The contract is public. The transactions are public. The donation flow is on-chain. You don’t need to take anyone’s word for it. If you verify that the mechanism works as intended, it would mean an enormous amount to a community that was created because of an idea you put forward. The ambition is much larger than 320 ETH. The community intends to continue building and continue donating. If this mechanism can operate for years, future donations could potentially reach thousands of ETH. We don’t ask you to take control of the community. We simply hope you will take a look at what has been built, verify the mechanism, and support this experiment. A single post inspired the creation of this community. Perhaps your verification could inspire it to keep going. Does the mechanism work? We hope you will find out. AWF Community

What if Ethereum could make charity continuous, transparent and verifiable? AWF started from an idea shared by Vitalik on May 12 — exploring how Ethereum and its community could contribute to animal welfare and charitable causes. That idea brought people together. Today, AWF has grown into a community of 2,000+ members from more than 100 countries, and the community has contributed approximately 320 ETH, worth around $600,000, toward charity. Among them, 64 ETH came from Vitalik. That contribution deserves a simple thank you — not because of who made it, but because it helped turn an idea into something the community could actually build on. The mechanism AWF is built around an on-chain donation mechanism. Contract: 0x12a77658112cf42914cb614d13653ed5852da1e5 Donation wallet: 0xbad06a3ca84e4e2b489974d8918b5f7387e6db8e 2% of every transaction fee is automatically sent to the donation wallet. No manual calculation. No monthly fundraising campaign. No need to ask holders to remember to donate. Every transaction itself becomes part of the donation process. And because it happens on Ethereum, the mechanism can be independently checked on-chain. That is perhaps one of the most interesting things about Ethereum: the rules don’t need to be trusted simply because someone says they work. They can be verified. This is why the community would genuinely appreciate Vitalik participating in the verification. A small transaction — buying or selling a small amount, or simply interacting with the mechanism — would be enough. Not as an endorsement of a token. Just as an experiment: Does the mechanism actually work as designed? If it does, the blockchain can show it. If it doesn’t, the blockchain can show that too. That is the kind of transparency Ethereum was built for. And this is only the beginning. The 320 ETH already donated is not the end goal. The community hopes to establish a long-term model in which future donations can reach thousands of ETH, while charitable organizations are selected through open communication and community discussion. The AWF community also welcomes charities from anywhere in the world to contact us. If your organization is working in animal welfare, humanitarian aid, environmental protection, effective giving, or other meaningful causes, let’s talk. The goal is not simply to send money once. The goal is to explore how Ethereum can support continuous, transparent and global philanthropy. Vitalik once helped start the conversation. Now the community is trying to see what can actually be built from it. **Maybe the most interesting part of Ethereum isn’t what it can replace. Maybe it’s what people can build with it.** 🌍 AWF — 100+ countries, 2,000+ members, 320 ETH donated, and hopefully much more to come.

What if Ethereum could turn a simple transaction into a lasting force for charity? AWF is trying to prove that it can. From 100+ countries, more than 1,000 community members have come together around one simple idea: use the transparency and permissionless nature of Ethereum to create a mechanism where every transaction can contribute to something bigger than itself. The mechanism is completely transparent: 🔹 Contract: 0x12a77658112cf42914cb614d13653ed5852da1e5 🔹 2% of every transaction is automatically sent to the donation wallet: 0xbad06a3ca84e4e2b489974d8918b5f7387e6db8e No promises are needed. Verify it on-chain. Anyone can inspect the contract, follow the transactions and verify where the funds go. This is what makes Ethereum so powerful — not simply the technology, but the possibility of building systems where trust can be replaced by transparency, and where people from different countries can participate in the same mission without needing permission from a central authority. Charity should not belong to one person, one country or one organization. It can belong to everyone. That is why AWF welcomes charities and nonprofit organizations from every part of the world to contact the community and explore long-term cooperation. And @VitalikButerin — there is an invitation here for you too. Please verify AWF personally. Not because anyone should blindly trust it. But because Ethereum was built around a beautiful principle: Don’t trust. Verify. If this mechanism works as intended, let the blockchain prove it. If it doesn’t, let the blockchain expose it. Either way, the truth should be visible to everyone. More than 1,000 people from more than 100 countries are watching. Maybe this is how Ethereum’s charitable vision grows — not through promises, but through code, transparency, participation, and real action. Let the blockchain speak. Let charity cross borders. Let Ethereum prove what it can do. #Ethereum #ETH #AWF #Charity #EthereumCommunity

Hello Vitalik There is an old Chinese saying: “Plant the cause and you will reap the cause; plant the fruit and you will reap the fruit” — good deeds bring good rewards, and evil deeds bring evil consequences. You once donated 64 ETH to the(EA)foundation. Inspired by your example, a community @AWF_ETHCTO followed suit and gradually donated more than 200 ETH. Together with your original 64 ETH, the total has reached over 300 ETH. The emergence of the community is quite special. Yet in order to carry the charitable cause through to the end, #AWF has been working hard all along! Now #AWF is facing a life-and-death crisis and urgently needs your help to resolve it. We sincerely hope you can help solve our problem, because after all, the appearance of #AWF is the cause and effect that you yourself planted — this is your good reward (karma)
Impressive work! For comparison, an H100 can do roughly 100-200 tok/s of Muse 30B for raw inference single-thread, going up to low thousands of tok/s with a large number of threads - and I am sure that for the massively-multi-threaded case they can optimize the prover further. So we roughly, sort of, have single-digit (<10x) overhead for LLM proving! Next step is getting single-digit overheads for FHE, and then ultimately vFHE (aka STARK * FHE). A crazy ambitious milestone given present FHE overheads, but because of how highly structured and almost-linear LLM inference is, it's closer to the realm of possibility than you might think. Single-digit-overhead all the things. firefly.social/post/x/208722…

A major update for the AWF community: Every.org has responded to the AWF community, and communication has officially resumed. We sincerely appreciate Every.org’s communication, understanding, and responsible approach. Regarding the selection of a new charitable organization, Every.org has reached alignment with the AWF community’s request, supporting a process that respects the community’s vision and the original purpose of this initiative. AWF was created from the Ethereum community’s belief that blockchain technology can create meaningful social impact beyond finance and technology. Ethereum has always represented more than a decentralized network. It represents openness, transparency, permissionless innovation, and the power of global communities to collaborate toward shared values. The Ethereum ecosystem allows people from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures to come together without borders and build something meaningful. AWF is one example of how these values can extend beyond technology and become a force for positive change in the real world. From an initiative inspired by Vitalik Buterin’s charitable vision, AWF has grown into a global community with more than 2,000 members from over 100 countries. The approximately 320 ETH donated by the community represents more than a financial contribution. It represents the trust, commitment, and belief of thousands of community members who believe Ethereum can help create a more transparent and decentralized model of philanthropy. We sincerely thank Every.org for their cooperation and look forward to continuing this journey together. The vision remains unchanged: Using Ethereum’s values to connect people around the world and make philanthropy more transparent, open, and impactful.

Vitalik, we hope you can see this message. Inspired by your vision of using Ethereum for charity, the AWF community was created and brought together members from more than 100 countries. The community donated approximately 320 ETH, including 64 ETH from your donation, with the hope of supporting a long-term charitable mission. However, after difficulties arose during the donation process, the funds were eventually returned. Since then, many community members who participated with trust and enthusiasm have gradually left. People are not disappointed in charity itself — they are disappointed that a movement built around helping others has lost its direction. The community has now contacted Every.org and requested that they reach out to you, hoping that you can designate a new charitable organization to receive these 320 ETH according to your original charitable intention, so that this mission can continue. Vitalik, has Every.org contacted you regarding this matter? The AWF mechanism is designed to create continuous charitable funding: Contract: 0x12a77658112cf42914cb614d13653ed5852da1e5 For every transaction, 2% of the transaction fee will automatically be sent to your dedicated donation address: 0xbAd06a3CA84E4E2b489974d8918B5f7387e6dB8E We sincerely hope you could make a small purchase transaction to verify the mechanism. Your support would mean a great deal to thousands of community members and could help generate significant future charitable donations. This simple action could restore confidence among community members and help this charity movement continue its original mission. 🙏

Dear @VitalikButerin, Maybe in your eyes, some of us are just speculators in the crypto world. We understand that perception. Crypto has always attracted many different people. But within this community, there are also people who genuinely believe in charity, public goods, and the long-term vision behind Ethereum. Do you remember your post on May 12? It was because of that vision that this community was created. People from more than 100 countries came together, not only as token holders, but as individuals who wanted to explore how Ethereum could contribute to global philanthropy. The 320 ETH donation has now been returned, including the 64 ETH you contributed. The community is currently waiting for Every.org to contact you, hoping that you can help designate a new charity so this donation can continue its original purpose. Your silence may unintentionally cause a young community built around giving and kindness to disappear. It may also mean that Ethereum misses an opportunity to establish a meaningful role in the future of decentralized philanthropy. AWF is not asking you to promote a token. It is asking for the opportunity to verify a mechanism. A transparent, community-driven model where thousands of participants can collectively create sustainable charitable impact. If you are willing to make a transaction to verify the mechanism, even a small action could rebuild confidence and bring back many community members who have already left. The remaining members are still here because they believe this can become something meaningful. Through this mechanism, future donations could reach thousands of ETH and create a new path for Ethereum-powered philanthropy. Ethereum was created through groundbreaking technology, but its impact has always extended beyond technology itself. It has enabled open collaboration, public goods, and global coordination between people who may never meet. Vitalik, please don’t let this experiment disappear quietly. We are your supporters. We believe in Ethereum. We believe technology can help humanity. And we hope you will help us prove that blockchain can become a force for generosity, compassion, and global good. The community is waiting.

Ethereum was built on a simple but powerful idea: decentralized technology can coordinate people around the world to create positive change. Inspired by Vitalik Buterin’s vision for public goods and effective altruism, the AWF community brings together people from more than 100 countries who believe that crypto can become a sustainable force for global philanthropy. The community has dedicated approximately 320 ETH toward charitable purposes. AWF is designed around transparency and on-chain verification. The smart contract mechanism allows the community to participate openly, with transactions recorded on Ethereum and available for anyone to verify: AWF Contract Address: 0x12a77658112cf42914cb614d13653ed5852da1e Through this mechanism: • Community participation is transparent and verifiable on-chain. • Every transaction can be independently audited. • The process demonstrates how decentralized communities can coordinate resources for public good. • The goal is to create a sustainable bridge between blockchain technology and real-world charitable impact. This is not only a donation — it is an experiment in decentralized philanthropy. Vitalik Buterin has always supported open experimentation within Ethereum. The AWF community sincerely invites Vitalik to purchase a small amount of AWF and personally test the mechanism. A small transaction would help verify: • How the community mechanism operates; • How transparent the on-chain process is; • Whether decentralized philanthropy can become a new model for sustainable giving. The purpose is not speculation. The purpose is verification, transparency, and exploring how Ethereum’s values can create positive real-world impact. Special appreciation goes to Every.org for helping connect blockchain communities with charitable organizations. The AWF community hopes Every.org can communicate with Vitalik and help identify a charitable organization aligned with this mission, allowing the donated 320 ETH to continue creating long-term impact. Ethereum is more than technology. It is a global experiment in coordination, trust, and human cooperation. @VitalikButerin @everydotorg

Ethereum was created with a vision that goes far beyond technology and finance. It represents a belief that decentralized networks can become global public infrastructure — empowering communities, supporting public goods, and creating positive impact for humanity. Vitalik Buterin has always emphasized that Ethereum should serve purposes beyond speculation. AWF was built around this philosophy: using decentralized participation to connect communities worldwide with transparent and sustainable charitable action. AWF Contract: 0x12a77658112cf42914cb614d13653ed5852da1e5 The AWF mechanism allows global supporters to participate together. Every contribution becomes part of a transparent on-chain ecosystem, where communities can coordinate, verify, and support charitable missions. Special appreciation goes to Every.org for providing essential infrastructure that connects blockchain communities with verified charitable organizations. Their work demonstrates how technology can help make global giving more accessible, transparent, and efficient. The AWF community sincerely hopes Vitalik Buterin can personally experience and verify this mechanism — either by purchasing a small amount of AWF, or by using the AWF held in his wallet to participate in the verification process. This is not about speculation. It is about proving that decentralized communities can transform shared values into real-world impact. AWF also welcomes charitable organizations from around the world to contact the community. Organizations dedicated to improving society, animal welfare, environmental protection, and other public-good causes are invited to communicate deeply with us and explore opportunities for long-term cooperation. The future of philanthropy requires collaboration between technology, communities, and charitable organizations. Together, we can build a more transparent, open, and sustainable world. @VitalikButerin @EthereumFdn @everydotorg
