Just because something “looks good” doesn’t make it any less wrong.
“Quality” has never truly been the primary issue of #AI generated imagery.
The issue always has been and always will be that the software was created by training on the life’s work of countless artists without consultation, compensation, or credit.
The day will come when AI will be able to fool even the staunchest, snobbiest, gatekeeping-est art connoisseurs.
None of that will change the fact that the genie is out of the bottle, the toothpaste is out of the tube, the software was built on theft.
Contrary to many with whom I hold similar opinions, I do not wish to see AI banned or even regulated.
It’s too late for that.
It’s the most we can hope for is to educate people enough to appoint where it is simply a thing that exists in society, but one that those of us with morals and ethics reject.
Like spitting on the sidewalk.

A boycott WILL hurt the workers because if nobody buys official merch, there's no reason to HAVE official merch, meaning there's no reason to HAVE employees who make merch. Capitalism works like that, so let THEM sort it out with the company THEY work for and suport THEIR CHOICES
