ALT Fanart of Robo-Ky and Venom from Guilty Gear Strive drawn in a chibi style. They're sitting next to each other after a fight. Robo-Ky is rubbing his cheek with a bruise on it. Venom is looking over at him with a grumpy expression on his face, his knees are tucked close to his chest. There is a cartoony bandaid drawn on top of his head.
ALT All in all, I think Robo-Ky and Venom are fundamental to each other's character development and currently their relationship isn't getting much focus. The focus is instead on them integrating into society but it would be REALLY interesting to explore how they feel about each other, since that hasn't been talked about since XRD.
ALT But during their fight with Bedman, Robo-Ky asserts that everyone is a part of society. He rejects his loneliness and despite everything, connects himself with the people who have ostracized him, because he is inherently tied to everyone around him just because of him existing. Not only is this important for Robo-Ky, it's also important for Venom, as someone who struggled with many of the same thoughts as Robo-Ky. Him hearing that during his lowest moment was one of the multitude of things that allowed him to move on and start a new life as a baker. This fight had a profound effect on both of them and was one of The most important moments in the series for both of their characters. In the fight, Robo-Ky saved Venom from death but Venom saved Robo-Ky too by inviting him to work in THEIR bakery. Someone, just one person, finally gave him a chance. A central theme in XRD is society and human connection, and the first connection Venom and Robo-Ky were able to make in their new lives was
ALT A shot of Venom and Robo-Ky from XRD, in the after story B. Venom is clutching a deed to the bakery to his chest and saying: "Fine by me. But first, we have a shop to name." Robo-Ky is sitting next to him as a head.
ALT (continued) with each other. This is where I think a Robo-Ky vs Venom song would be VERY interesting. In Strive, they don't get any stand out moments together (Venom doesn't even get a special win quote against Robo...) but with a song, all the themes from Xrd + their current relationship in Strive can be further explored and elaborated on!! I think, in Strive, Robo-Ky and Venom are more focused on interacting with other characters and becoming a part of society, instead of getting new moments together. Like how Robo-Ky talks to Deliah and Venom bakes with Unika. It's important for them to form connections with other people but their relationship with each other isn't getting much focus. With a new theme, they could get the focus they've been lacking up to this point.
ALT As a side note. In Strive, they bicker a lot and insult each other- some people think they don't even like each other at all, but I believe that they actually do! They still live together in their bakery, it's implied that Robo-Ky stays with Venom after he gets his body, and Venom doesn't kick him out either. Robo-Ky even hypes up Venom in his intro- which he would have no reason to do if he genuinely disliked him. Technically Venom is the one indebted to Robo-Ky for saving his life, Robo-Ky is free to leave at any moment if Venom annoys him too much, especially after he gets his own body. Yet Robo-Ky agrees to carry Venom's pool case and helps him in battle. Why? Maybe he doesn't hate him after all... eyes emoji
ALT A screenshot of a wall of text. It says: Here is why I want Robo-Ky and Venom to get a song. They are 2 of my favorite characters from Guilty Gear and I really really think they have one of the more interesting dynamics in the series. They're opposites but at the same time VERY alike. They're both extremely lonely and isolated due to their upbringings. They struggle to be a part of human society, to adjust and find love (platonic or romantic).
ALT Venom is extremely lonely and isolated pre Strive, he was brought up in an impersonal environment (the Assassin's Guild) and forced to murder. He feels alone and is driven to the point of suicide to help the other people from the Guild. In this way (and many other ways), he is similar to Millia, who left the Guild but later came back because she felt like she didn't belong anywhere else. Robo-ky is hunted down for being the prototype for the Robo-Ky army and then forced to live on the street. He's been rejected by society time and time again and, being the only Robo-Ky left, he doesn't have anyone to turn to. Both him and Venom are forced to live a lonely existence. A solitude, you could say.
ALT A screenshot of the title of Venom's theme "A Solitude That Asks Nothing In Return" and lyrics Robo-Ky's theme, Breath: "No spare parts in this world. I'm the finest grade of solitude."
