Noobs/retail aren't expecting to make money for free or make 10k on some callout
In fact there's even an argument to be made that noobs touch crypto EXPECTING TO LOSE... that's what I thought when I first got into crypto/memecoins
What they're expecting though is a RELATIVELY fair game (yes memes were never ever fair yeah yeah yeah)
It's just that right now it's very openly not a fair game when people are 1. getting payed to trade 2. getting shouted out by PF + 5 fig callout rewards 3. right now, only coins with kols can run
and that all coupled with them getting rekt over and over due to a variety of reasons will obviously get people angry
I even mentioned this over a year ago but the reason why polymarket/kalshi can go mainstream but crypto/memes will always be a scam is that prediction markets still feel relatively fair... it's not like memes where if 5 kols all buy something they instantly win
Another reason you don’t see a lot of people shilling memes anymore, adding to the reason why memes are “dead” is that you can’t shill them in good faith
Because we all know they’re truly shitcoins that won’t have a lasting pump and will quickly just dump
Shilling memecoins right now just means fucking over your followers and convincing them to lose their money, so the “good” people who used to shill good coins just stopped entirely
Funny enough pumpfun farmers don’t care and will shill you omega coal 200k toppers all day
Apparently people are getting drained?
Game is game bro, draining is just using the tools available
No crying in the casino bucko
A year ago I thought maybe memes could get hot if BTC was above 100k/ATH
But recently I've been thinking that unless robinhood pushes memecoins extremely hard, which while possible isn't that likely to be honest,
It's probably actually over.
Always have to mention that yes there will always be certain months or pockets where things are "good" cause some 70 IQ will say some b-b-but we had AI, pons !!! stonk !! there are runners sometimes !! etc.
But in the bigger picture, the fun and culture, the idea of buying $100 in a non catalyst dependent coin and turning it into 500k, an actual memecoin going to billions relatively organically and such...
Sadly I think it really is over.
And I hope I'm wrong... but after 3 full years of this it's just not looking good to me.
We used to have 20 memecoins getting shilled on the timeline daily by different people
Really fucking killed this shit gg
When this squad competition shit starts we're going to see the max extent of gaming the leaderboard I keep mentioning
Is it really a trader when he's getting paid a salary to trade, only buys insider coins, and then gets paid on top to shill his insider coin?
That's a trader?
I joined crypto in 2024 and from 2024 to 2026 the "traders" have only gotten worse and worse
And I hear stories about GCR and others from before 2024
Stories from 2017 etc.
So the quality of traders in crypto really is just in a constant decline.
& for the record I barely consider memecoin trading as trading...
I don't blame people for taking the pumpfun deal at all actually, and think you should take it... literally free money
However that doesn't mean you won't nuke your aura to literal zero by taking it
Memecoins are dead in the same way that league of legends and fortnite are dead (but like 100x worse)
Like yeah it will always be there and people won't quit 100% if they've been successful with it at some points
But it's spiritually dead and only people who are addicted to it or extremely desperate and dumb are left
For the record EVERY coin I have ever shilled on twitter, literally ALL OF THEM did at minimum 10x in a nearly up only PvE fashion to 10, 20, 50, 300m etc.
None were my deploys, none were insider
I rarely ever shill stuff because 99.9% of these coins are ass and PvP
But these pumpfun callout guys supposedly have a gemerald to share with you at sub 100k marketcap every hour okay buddy
The guy you're tailing/copytrading is sitting in a group chat with a bunch of other guys scheming about how they can rob you btw
They would MURDER you for your entire port
Each time they unload their bags on you they're laughing
How are you people actually copytrading these guys
Memecoins on solana will never ever be good as long as PvP and vamping is a thing
I never once got PvP'd on robinhood
And PvP while it exists for sure on BSC it's not nearly as bad
We have no fucking liquidity and any time something half decent spawns it has to get a 5 way PvP and by the time PvP is done no1 even wants to bother with the narrative
And I don't see PvP being fixed so yeah it's doomed
Becoming a more popular opinion
my hot take is onboarding is overrated af
because you could market and onboard retail
but then they INSTANTLY get their precious $50 wiped out by a bundle / copytrading / following a kol farm
so you onboarded and instantly offboarded
no fucking point, if anything the public perception of crypto gets even worse than it already is
for retail to actually be interested in memecoins you need things to be "vetted" through a spot listing (robinhood, binance, coinbase, whatever) and for these listings to not be the local top.
Coins should get spot listings and then go FURTHER and move 3-4x+ from the listing marketcap. But most crypto participants are not willing to buy post listing, and if exchanges themselves don't want to invest into the chart then no one actually cares about onboarding.
