Delighted to report that our paper on the long-term safety of surgical devascularisation for placenta accreta spectrum has been published today.
This technique is easier than obstetricians think and is safe and life-saving for catastrophic haemorrhage.
mdpi.com/2079-9721/13/12/400
Severe Placenta Accreta Spectrum rarely needs a vertical laparotomy
We need to stop being driven by ‘obstetric fear’ and start considering the scar each woman will carry on her psyche as a result of the one we inflict on her abdomen
Transverse is safe⬇️

This is dreadful news. I was in a bad way 2 and a half years ago. Practitioner Health responded rapidly, effectively (far more so that Occ Health) and turned me around, and got me back to work. I owe them a huge amount and I know others do too.

Yes!! Advanced 3D ultrasound could effectively distinguish uterine dehiscence from PAS as well as determine with high accuracy, bladder involvement in PAS.

Fantastic work by @placresearch well worth a read. So proud to have you as a friend & collaborator Helen - we’ll identify the pregnancies at risk, you treat them 😊
Thrilled with our Preprint - correcting growth in utero after time of diagnosis and reducing fetal AND maternal stress all by treating the placenta. Outstanding work @DavenportBaylea @UFMedicine @UFBioMed @UFMedResearch biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Well, who would have thought? Children who lived near Sure Start Centres before starting school did much better 11 years later at GCSE (especially those from low income families).
They worked and helped the poorest. So naturally the Tories trashed them.

Our article on ultrasound screening for PAS in LMICs received enough downloads to be a #TopDownloadedArticle in IJGO. Just shows the significant need for this information.
We need to do so much more work on preventing the first caesarean so that we can stop this PAS epidemic
