We spent months making this film - it’s about so many of the themes that shape Israel, Jerusalem, Palestinians and the Middle East. Filmed and edited by @ramsay_lex. Produced by @celinealkhaldi Israel has plans to tear down this neighbourhood - here's why youtu.be/Br9XOBia-sE?is=egyA…

This is a crucial, and under-reported, question - the restraints on a caretaker PM during the period of government formation. And it could place the Israeli Attorney General into a very powerful position
By all accounts, it looks like Trump is laying the groundwork for a major confrontation with Iran after the midterms. The problem is Israel has an election tomorrow. Netanyahu is unlikely to win a majority. We can’t have a major interstate war during the delicate government formation negotiations. A caretaker prime minister who just lost an election would not have the legitimacy to launch a war that would bring ballistic missiles on our cities. Iran knows that. It’s a vulnerability that it will doubtless seek to exploit.

To be clear, Palestinian heritage is recognised by the UN. The word Palestine, as a place name, dates back around 2.500 years.
There's no such thing as Palestinian heritage!

This, from Vanity Fair, is quite the allegation.
Finally got round to reading this. In any other administration it's something that would be a top 5 history-making story, published shortly before an election!

There is one West Bank. The killings of these soldiers today happened in the self-same West Bank that also sees settler violence.
There are two West Banks: The West Bank of Brad Lander's air-conditioned agitator tour bus and the one in which armed terrorists murder Israelis. Which one will receive more media attention?

Hebron cordoned off. Expected that access to and from the West Bank - already likely to be be very closely restricted around Tuesday’s election - may be tightened even further
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "I have just concluded a security assessment with the Minister of Defense, the IDF Chief of Staff, the Director of the Shin Bet, the National Security Advisor, and the Commander of the IDF Central Command. It appears that Hamas terrorists were planning a major attack aimed at murdering innocent civilians, as evidenced by the large quantities of weapons and ammunition discovered. Our brave soldiers thwarted this attack with courage and determination. I commend them for their actions and wish our wounded a speedy recovery. I have instructed the IDF and security forces to immediately cordon off the city of Hebron and take additional security measures to prevent terrorist attacks originating from Judea and Samaria. Our forces are operating with reinforcements to thwart terrorism and are carrying out extensive waves of arrests. We will pursue Hamas terrorists and those who sent them, wherever they are and at all times. You have nowhere to hide."

Who is behind the powerful Houthi dynasty in Yemen? Once known as a 'mountain militia' the Houthis have become one of the largest and most powerful groups in Northern Yemen. But who is the family behind this powerful movement. Sky's @adamparsons reports.

Three weeks ago, the betting markets gave Naftali Bennett just a 9% chance of becoming Israel’s prime minister. Now, that has doubled to just under 20%. And as his odds have shortened, so Benjamin Netanyahu’s have lengthened. He is now considered to have only around a 27% chance, with Gadi Eiskenkot the clear frontrunner at around 50%. The election is on October 27th

Blistering editorial from the editor of the Times of Israel, calling for Israeli voters to dethrone Benjamin Netanyahu. Titled: "For Israel's sake, Netanyahu has to go". Ends by saying that Netanyahu cannot heal his nation, when he is the person from whom Israel needs to be healed. timesofisrael.com/for-israel…

NEW: Netanyahu demands "verifiable evidence" that the diplomats who said they were attacked, were actually attacked
The Prime Minister's Office: ALLEGED ATTACK ON EUROPEAN DIPLOMATS: SERIOUS ACCUSATIONS REQUIRE SERIOUS EVIDENCE. We urge caution before drawing conclusions from today's reports that European diplomats were attacked by masked Israelis in Judea and Samaria. Any violence against diplomats is unacceptable. The more serious the accusation, the greater the demand for compelling evidence. Here is what we know: - The diplomatic delegation entered a sensitive area with a history of confrontations without prior coordination with the IDF, as officially confirmed by the military. Such coordination is essential to protecting visiting diplomats and preventing violence. - The visit included Bernard Baudoux, a French Communist Party mayor who previously raised the Palestinian flag over his municipal building, prompting French authorities to order its removal. - Published footage shows masked individuals confronting a diplomatic vehicle. Separate images show a smashed window and a person lying on the ground. These images alone do not establish the complete sequence of events or individual responsibility. Those circumstances remain under investigation. - Israeli police and forensic investigators have launched an investigation to establish the facts and identify those responsible. These reports come amid concerns about a coordinated campaign to smear Israel and the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria during the annual olive harvest, relying on sensational headlines before the full facts emerge. We may see further allegations in the coming days. By the time the evidence is fully examined, the reputational damage from premature conclusions may already be done. We call on the public and responsible journalists to demand verifiable evidence, reject hearsay, and refuse to turn unproven allegations into a collective indictment of the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.

Yesterday, a journalist was attacked (again) by violent settlers. Today, a group of settlers attacked diplomats and visiting politicians.
🇵🇸 I condemn in the strongest terms the attack by masked settlers in Taybeh, in the occupied West Bank, against Palestinians, our Consul General, French and Polish diplomats as well as catholic representatives. A French mayor was assaulted and a Belgian vehicle damaged. Our team is safe. Palestinians face this violence every day. Settlers also target journalists reporting on it and diplomats. Harvesting olives, reporting the news or carrying out diplomatic duties should never put anyone at risk of attack. As the occupying power, Israeli authorities must protect Palestinians, ensure the safety of diplomats and journalists, and bring those responsible to justice. Impunity for violent settlers must end. Belgium will continue to press for EU sanctions against those responsible for this violence and those who support them. This violence cannot be separated from Israel’s illegal settlement policy. Belgium condemns settlement expansion and attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land. The occupation of the Palestinian territory must end. @BelgiumMFA @BelgiumJRS
