Good news: I’m patching every Linux installation in the whole fleet to fix that CA issue that’s completely wrecking the internet.
Bad news: just kidding, there’s no bad news, I don’t use PHP.
Underrated activity of my trip: tea, a newspaper, and a Full English breakfast in Mayfair. The Wolseley is lovely! Not as pedigreed as the Ritz, but I could get in without a reservation.
lol, I stopped posting as frequently and then got flagged for spam.
Apparently the algorithm doesn’t know what a vacation is?
A British Malaysian restaurant in Soho is the last place I expected to hear Compton’s Most Wanted, but here we are.
Hanging out at the theater until I board the plane.
For all the complaints I hear about Portland and its woes, this is something you don’t find everywhere. A fun novelty to spend that time you aren’t spending in security…
If you guys think my Twittering is boring now, I and the lawyers apologize. I’ll be back to more regularly scheduled manifestos in like a month or two.
Hot take: a CS degree is how you learn to hold a system to take everyone ELSE’S job, not how to have your own taken from you.
If you lack personal agency, engineering of any kind is not the profession for you.
AI should be something you own and control, not something you rent from a weird guy in San Francisco.
The issue is scale.
The answer, of course, is a completely open source, agent powered decentralized hyperscalar structure.
It sounds insane, but this is the future of computing.
The infrastructure is the economy.
It’s one thing to say it and mean that specific AI vendors or infrastructure vendors are so large that they command large portions of the economy, but it’s an entirely different thing to think about the implications outside of infra.
If I’m gonna pay taxes to a province, I should probably get to know it better. For the last two Canadian tax years, I’ve been legally a Quebecer, and this despite living in the US both years. If circumstances were different, this could be home.
What’s with everyone naming their agents after real people?
I named my dot Helpy Helperton. I haven’t said “spank you” to it yet.
I will be in London, October 16 to the 20th… does anybody wanna hang out? Was thinking about maybe finding a +1 for Sunday roast.
Software transforming into a product of ambition, rather than a product of technical knowledge, does NOT AT ALL mean everyone will create software.
Carlin’s Law still applies .
Watching all the cool launches and interesting products that come out while you have your head down working on something is the MOST frustration you’ll ever face as an engineer. We want to fix and build, we don’t want to get sued.
I am still going to build my own cell phone and humanoid robot by 2035. I might actually have a path forward now. It’s incredibly wild how much work has to be done do make anything possible, but even with AI the amount of effort that goes into a project ambitious as this is crazy.
Before I started making a different OS project, I started a Fedora spin called Tino (This Is Not Omarchy) for people who liked the settings and config of Omarchy, but perhaps didn’t want it based on Arch.
I am not actively working on it too much, but it is available to try, and updated to Fedora 44 as of this morning.
If someone wants to take it over, I’m good with that. It is not an official spin today, but for someone more willing to maintain it going forward, it’s ready to go.

Ok, so let me ask this a different way:
What kind of social proof or literal work do I need to do for you to get a @cosign invite?
