I finally get to teach a Piano Literature class this year… what pieces/composers should I be sure to include that often are left out of the textbooks? #thursdaythoughts

Revisiting @JenevoraW's excellent "Teaching Singing to Children and Young Adults" & I love this, from the Introduction. It strikes me that many educational singing environments, from youth ensembles to music colleges, have forgotten their role as a safe space for 'serious play'

Is your choir considering purchasing our Vol 3 for Advent/Christmas/Epiphany 2022-2023? We'd love to hear from you if so! In these uncertain times we want to plan well ahead of time as our lovely new 'music' paper comes from Eastern Europe and involves multiple border crossings.

Hello. I am looking for chilled-out, simple piano pieces by living composers. Fully notated, improvisatory, aleatoric - all great. Love to receive some by non-male, non-white, but everybody welcome! (Putting a set together for some potential gigs) #good

…I am totally confident in my knowledge, experience and abilities and I want every young Asian, black, LGBTQIA+, person with disability, basically everyone, to know no one can ever stop you creating anything you like and being proud. Work hard and be yourself. That’s all. 🙏🏾

Of course everyone has their opinion, although no mention was made of the fact that all three nights sold out, the choir took 5 bows each night and that many audience members, including a lovely 91 yr old former war requiem chorister, complimented the music in tears. Tweet 4)👇🏾

This afternoon at 4pm - the first state school choir to broadcast BBC Choral Evensong in its 96 year history. Hopefully a seismic moment, and a welcome reminder to so many that independent schools don't have a monopoly on outstanding music-making.

During her short life Vitězslava Kaprálová (1915-1940) developed into one of Czechoslovakia's best-loved song composers. One critic wrote: 'Her colourful piano parts are not merely accompaniment, but form a close bond with the text.’ theaderks.wordpress.com/2022… @Donne_UK

I'm looking to grow my community 🌱 Is anyone here a composer, game dev, or artist or know of someone I can support and follow? Would also love to get to know any women in these careers too! Feel free to say hi 🤗

As we brought families together to make music in our concert through homemade instruments, body percussion, singing and actions, this utter joy, as described by @amybebbs1 was SO palpable and it was profoundly moving and a privilege to be facilitating the channel for this joy.
Who doesn't need a little bit of joy right now???
This is a wonderful blog from our director @amybebbs1. We are so lucky to have her leadership and we really couldn't agree more.
Embrace the joy where you can. 🎼Be safe and well this Christmas!🎄
