For the summer issue of National Parks Mag, I wrote about the history of fish stocking and removal in Yellowstone & other western parks, and how nonnative trout are a prism through which to view NPS's own evolution. Squeezed a bit of memoir in there, too. npca.org/articles/3161-troub…

About 200,000 baby salmon were released into San Francisco Bay on Sunday night in a bid to save them from drought conditions that threaten their life-cycle swim to the ocean. trib.al/X8V0bRL
The NYT piece does not reveal the mystery of Haiti to Haitians it reveals the mystery of the West. That is the audience that needed the precise number, that needed a price tag. That is the audience that needed to hear the sound of the silenced gun. 7/n

🌏As I wrote No One Saves the Earth from Us But Us, a record-breaking heatwave brought temperatures as high as 116 degrees to my city of Portland, Oregon. Just 9 months earlier, we fled our home as wildfires produced off the charts air pollution for weeks.

"Distortion of environmental interest in marginalized communities largely undermines the growing popularity of the environmental justice movement and places these communities in positions where stakeholders assume their disinterest in environmental governance."
Today is a perfect day to share our new publication "Stormwater on the margins: Influence of race, gender, and education on willingness to participate in stormwater management." The first chapter of my dissertation and only the beginning of my work in this realm. 1/n

Very proud of my sister and her colleagues for the work they're doing to decolonize their teaching, and grateful for the generous and determined leadership from the Nisqually Tribe in bringing Indigenous history and presence into public schools.
At one Washington high school, Nisqually leaders and school faculty are giving students a chance to understand history through a Native lens. bit.ly/3pzibh2
